Wide stairs, dual handrails

Wide stairs and professionally installed handrails make stairways accessible and safer for people with mobility issues. Handrails provide them with the proper support needed to use the stairs.

ADA accessibility standards recommend a continuous handrail the full length of each flight on both sides of a stairway.

Reclaimed antique pine treads, landing

Pine is an attractive wood flooring that is durable and can last for decades. It does require some extra maintenance to prevent discoloration. Because it can be prone to discoloration, it is an ideal material in rooms that do not get much sunlight.

A pine floor is much better than cheaper options like linoleum if properly taken care of. Using reclaimed wood is more sustainable because it prevents the need for further trees to be cut down.

Motion sensor LED pendant light

The stairway is illuminated by a motion sensor LED pendant light. Motion sensor lights are extremely convenient and save energy as lights are only on when needed and cannot be left on.

Energy Star fluorescent wall sconces

A wall sconce is a type of light fixture attached vertically to a wall. These sconces use Energy Star lightbulbs that use less energy without sacrificing the quality of their light.

Structural reinforced wind shear wall

A shear wall is a structural member part of a reinforced concrete framed structure engineered to resist lateral forces. Having reinforced shear walls in your home will help it withstand high winds.
