Beginner Cattleman

The LSU AgCenter is excited to announce its new Beginner Cattleman Program. This is designed for cattleman with 10 years or less of experience raising beef cattle and for people interested in starting to raise beef cattle.

Participants will need access to a computer and internet as this is a hybrid course featuring online videos and 5 in-person workshops. There will also be an optional tour for an additional fee at the conclusion of the program in Fall 2022.

The Spring 2022 class will take place at the Southeast Research Station in Franklinton. Workshops will be held on the following dates:

  • April 29, 2022 - Animal Handling and Facilities
  • May 27, 2022 - Animal Health
  • June 24, 2022 - Animal Nutrition
  • July 22, 2022 - Animal Reproduction/Genetics/Marketing
  • August 26, 2022 - Pasture Management and Weed Control
