The Downriver Master Gardener Program serves to train residents of St. Bernard and Plaquemines parish in beginner horticulture, including soil science, plant pathology, entomology, vegetable production, fruits and nuts, and other topics.

First week of April: Applications released
May 15th: Applications due to parish office
June-August: Class meets weekly in the evenings, for a duration of 14 weeks
Course fee: $200, including manual, lab materials, and other supplies
Several scholarships are available based on financial need thanks to a generous donation from the Meraux Foundation.
Quarterly general membership meetings are scheduled throughout the year and include speakers, plant and seed swaps, and field trips to sites of horticultural interest.
Master Gardeners volunteer in our community, serving to help educate the general public in research-based horticultural topics through outreach programs, community and school gardens, and other events.
