These optional trainings are a great way to “level up” your skills, support contests, and make an even bigger impact in your parish.

This training provides an in-depth look at contest rules and what to expect during the event. You’ll learn strategies for practicing, what to include in your kit, and how to guide youth through this exciting culinary challenge.
Completion of this training is not required to serve as a Food Challenge team coach.

This training prepares you to support the Technical Design Report and Interview Judging, and Mission and Obstacle Course scoring. In addition to the online training, Level 1 Judges volunteer as a lane judge and interview/ technical design judge in separate 4-H SeaPerch Regional Qualifiers.
Progression through this pathway will provide skills and experience in judging the components of a contest and the logistics in setting up a contest. Volunteers completing this pathway are prepared to host their own parish and regional-level SeaPerch events.
National 4-H Volunteer Conference of Southern States – The 4-H Volunteer Conference is open to 4-H volunteers (and paid staff) from across the world. Hosted by the 4-H Volunteers Conference of Southern States, a team of 4-H volunteers and staff plan the event each year. The conference is hosted onsite at Rock Eagle 4-H Center has virtual components, including a library of recorded content.

The 4-H Volunteer Conference of Southern States is designed to engage 4-H volunteers and staff across the southern region in contemporary educational opportunities that will impact, enhance, and foster quality, excellence, and achievement in the essential elements of youth development programming. In particular, the conference aims to impact volunteers and staff’s local activities, projects, clubs, and communities.

Letters to 4-H Volunteer Leaders
The Letters to Leaders series provides volunteers with the resources they need to develop a successful 4-H club or project. The series covers a vast number of topics, from getting started with 4-H to conducting meetings, experiential learning, and more!
This handbook is an essential resource for any 4-H club leader. This handbook provides an overview of the 4-H program, essential materials for starting and managing a 4-H club, information on 4-H leader professional development, and club risk management guidelines and procedures.
Louisiana 4-H School Enrichment opportunities are a collaborative effort between the parish 4-H program and local schools. Each school enrichment program offers a minimum of six hours of instructional lessons and interactive activities. The Louisiana 4-H Youth Development Program provides these research-based opportunities to engage students in hands-on learning and to support formal education. All curriculum is free to educators.
