Beryl Magee Ford

Vernon Parish

Beryl Magee Ford’s 4-H career began as a nine-year club member in West Feliciana Parish, attending achievement days, livestock shows, camps and short course. She attended 4-H educational trips to Chicago, showing heifers and sheep.

Beryl has been a Vernon Parish 4-H leader and parent, advisory committee member and 4-H Foundation Board member for over 20 years. She was instrumental in establishing the Vernon Parish 4-H Hall of Fame, 4-H Scholarship Fund and the 4-H Livestock Club. The Livestock Club was started when the parish had no 4-H Ag Agent and she and other 4-H parents saw a need to support the livestock program and new exhibitors.

4-H scholarships were established recognizing over 24 teens with more than $15,000.

As an active member of the parish 4-H advisory committee, she was instrumental in establishing the Vernon 4-H Hall of Fame, Friend of 4-H Award and 4-H Memorial Reward. In 2009, Beryl received the Louisiana 4-H Alumni Award.

She was an elementary school teacher, counselor and school board member.
