The lessons learned as an eight-year club member provided Janelle Carrier, of Livingston Parish, a model for her volunteer work (1951-2013). Under her leadership, members excelled in community projects, project work and record book competitions. She introduced the clothing projects to many students by teaching them to use a sewing machine and how to construct garments. As school principal, she continued support for the leader and club members. Janelle was named as the Outstanding Young Teacher in Livingston Parish and held numerous leadership roles in local and state associations. She was named winner of the State 4-H Alumni Award in 1977.
