Avoyelles Parish. Year Inducted: 2012. Carolyn Bordelon, a volunteer since 1990, serves as president of the Avoyelles Parish 4-H Foundation, organizational leader at Marksville High, 4-H Advisory Board member and Avoyelles 4-H Shooting Sports coordinator. For the shooting sports program, she is archery instructor/leader and Level II state instructor for the overall program.
Beauregard Parish. Year Inducted: 2012. When her oldest child became eligible for membership, Pat Andrews became a very active volunteer, assisting club officers with meeting agendas, providing transportation for parish and statewide events, and chaperoning camps, short course and awards trips. She has assisted youth with small-animal projects and served as a leader for the Junior Cattlemen’s Association.
East Baton Rouge Parish. Year Inducted: 2012. Charles E. Severance was employed as a specialist by the Louisiana State University Cooperative Extension Service for 39 years to work with the 4-H and adult electric programs.
St. Martin Parish. Year Inducted: 2012. For more than 70 years (1940-2012), Elsie Castille has been involved in the St. Martin Parish 4-H program as a member, 4-H agent, home economist, advisory board member, 4-H Foundation president, donor and volunteer.
West Carroll Parish. Year Inducted: 2012. Nannie Gardner Hale has been involved in the 4-H program since 1948 when she became a 4-H Club member. As an adult, she has been an active 4-H mom, an organizational leader, a livestock show volunteer, a workshop presenter, an overnight chaperone, a parish 4-H photographer and also a judge for Demonstration Day.
Madison Parish. Year Inducted: 2012. C. L. Keene provided leadership as a volunteer in both parish and state 4-H programs from 1976-2007. He became an active volunteer when his oldest child entered the 4-H program. As a parent volunteer and community leader, he served on the Madison Parish 4-H and Overall Advisory committees. Mr. Keene was very active in promoting volunteer leadership and advisory community support for 4-H throughout Louisiana and the Southern Region.
Acadia Parish. Year Inducted: 2012. John E. Hains has a long history with the Acadia 4-H program as a member, project leader, parent, advisory and foundation member (1971-2012). He has generously donated his time, personal property and equipment to host and conduct training events for small engines, tractor, bicycle, and shooting sports events.
Vermilion Parish. Year Inducted: 2012. For 25 years, Jeffrey J. Faulk Sr. donated his time to drive a school bus to take 4-H’ers to Short Course, camps and out-of-state trips. As a livestock leader, he transported animals, contacted buyers and donors, and built and donated sheep pens and cattle ties.
Lafayette Parish. Year Inducted: 2012. Joel Guidry began volunteering in the 4-H program when his children enrolled in the club in 1999. He remains active in 2012. His leadership roles include chairman of the 4-H Horse Advisory Task Force, Advisory Task Force swine representative and Acadiana District Livestock Show board member. Mr. Guidry was instrumental in developing the Lafayette 4-H Horse Advisory Board and is a graduate of the Master Horseman program.
Vermilion Parish. Year Inducted: 2012. Lola Potier has been a member of the 4-H community for more than 56 years (1955-2012) as a member, agent, volunteer leader, 4-H Foundation and advisory committee member and parent. She served as a 4-H agent for nine years, returned to school and became a classroom teacher. Upon her return to the classroom, she became an organizational leader at E. Broussard and FIEB Elementary school.
St. John the Baptist Parish. Year Inducted: 2012. Robbie Wintz Tomeny is a 4-H alumna and served as 4-H organizational leader, project leader and home economics teacher from 1960-1998 at East St. John High School. Her expertise in clothing, foods and nutrition enabled her to conduct a variety of programs to encourage project participation. Some of her more notable programs included an Indian Extravaganza ethnic foods program for elementary members, food and fitness relay games and style shows.
Jefferson Parish. Year Inducted: 2012. Nancy R. Sarver has played a major role as a volunteer leader in Jefferson Parish for more than 34 years (1977-2012). Her creative programming has involved countless elementary urban youth in 4-H. She is an advocate for motivating youth by engaging them in Rocketry Design contests, sewing and commodity cookery contests, poster and essay contests.
