Thad Bailes
(deceased)
Vernon Parish
Year Inducted: 2013

Thad Bailer was very involved in the Vernon Parish 4-H program as a member, volunteer, livestock leader and advisory committee member (1993-2003). He worked diligently with the livestock program and helped establish the first 4-H Livestock Club for parents and youth. He served as president of the board. The 4-H program could always count on Thad, whether it was presenting programs or serving as cook for events and fundraisers. One notable community service project was the collection of Christmas trees for coastal restoration projects. He arranged for nine cattlemen to loan their trailers to haul the trees to Cameron Parish. As a DARE officer and sheriff’s deputy he often included 4-H youth in alcohol and drug prevention programs.
