Iberia Parish 4-H Collects Pet Food

4-H Agent Samantha Simmons Webre and 4-H members delivered pet food to a local animal shelter.

The Iberia Junior Leader Club collected pet food during each of their meetings in the 2011-2012 school year. With a force of 50 students ranging from eighth to 12th grade, nearly 200 pounds of pet food were collected for the Angel Paws Adoption Center in New Iberia, La. With all of the students' efforts combined, 20 hours went into the collection and distribution of the food. It was the hope of the members that all of the pets in the shelter were well fed as it is an independently funded shelter and food was their highest cost. The supervisor of the shelter commended the group on their generosity and wished that more youth groups would become more involved in their cause.
