The Louisiana 4-H Citizenship Boad assist with the development of educational programs that provide opportunities for exploring citizenship and cultural awareness on local, state, and national levels; develop and increase leadership, social, emotional, and character skills, and build a sense of civic engagement.
Board members, meet in-person three times a year, Summer, Fall and Spring; they help plan, conduct service-learning programs and an educational experiences; serve as a state liason for their region and parish, and they are advocates for the state service-learning focus.
The Louisiana 4-H Citizenship Board Service-Learning Committee is excited to share the 2025–2026 service-learning guide, Greener Louisiana: A 4-H Service-Learning Guide. This resource is designed to help 4-H clubs plan and implement meaningful service-learning projects focused on environmental awareness and stewardship within their communities.
Our goal is to inspire action, encouraging youth and volunteers to become informed and engaged in environmental service efforts across Louisiana. As we launch this new focus, we invite you to “Be the Change” in your community.
Act to Impact is a service-based competition for Junior Leader clubs to compete with other Junior Leader clubs across the state of Louisiana based on community service and civic-engagement. The club can collectively choose to complete the main challenge and side quests, just one or all side quests, or just the main challenge. The club will decide how to complete the challenges and who will partake in these challenges. Some challenges involve videos and others involve pictures.

Eco Quest is a one-day workshop for 4th–6th grade 4-H members where they dive into what it means to be great environmental stewards. Led by the Citizenship Board, these young explorers will embark on a hands-on journey through four exciting stations, each challenging curiosity, build awareness, and inspire action to help protect our planet!
Louisiana Black Bear
The Louisiana Black Bear is Louisiana's official state mammal. According to the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Foundation, Louisiana black bears numbers declined to historic lows by the 1980s due to habitat loss and overhunting. In 1922, they were listed as "threatened" on the Threatened and Endangered Species list. Thanks to conservation efforts across the state, the Louisiana Black Bear was removed from the list in May 2016. Want to learn more about this incredible specie using the button below.

The leaderboard will be updated monthly on this webpage and we will share updates at the Junior Leadership Conference (JLC). The top three clubs on the Civic Leaderboard will be recognized at 4-H University (4-H U), and the first-place club will receive an award.

Louisiana 4-H State Citizenship Board
