4-H uses project-based learning to help youth ignite their sparks! 4-H projects challenge youth to explore various interest through educational workshops, competitive events and field experiences.
The 4-H Records Contest is an opportunity for youth to record their 4-H journey- from project-specific experiences to broader leadership and service opportunities. Members use the 4-H Records template to track year-round 4-H project progress, leadership experiences, community engagement, recognition and involvement in non- 4-H projects and programs. Each Record Book entry consists of a project summary, an annual 4-H story, photos and supporting documents. The goal is for participants to reflect on their 4-H involvement while sharpening their written communication and organization skills.
State contest participants compete for cash awards and various educational trips, such as the Louisiana educational trip, National 4-H Congress, and the Ignite Conference in Washington, D.C.
Contact your local 4-H Extension Agent for details about local competition opportunities, along with preparation tips for the statewide contest.
