Transfer Stocks
Stocks, bonds and real estate can be given to the Foundation and dedicated to a specific purpose. They can be given as an outright gift in honor of or in memory of someone. The Foundation will sell them and the proceeds will be used as restricted. Give your broker the transfer instructions found at this LSU Foundation link. Make sure your broker specifies that the gift is for "Louisiana 4-H."

Wills and Trusts
Through your will, you may give cash, real estate, stocks, bonds or life insurance proceeds. You can establish a trust that would provide income during the lifetime of your surviving spouse or whomever else you designate, after which your trustee would give the principal to the 4-H Foundation. You can establish a trust now and retain your control of and income from your property as long as you live. The staff of the Louisiana 4-H Foundation can meet with you and your attorney on this matter. Consult your attorney about the proper way to make a will or establish a trust. The Louisiana 4-H Foundation Fund should be designated as heir or beneficiary.

Your legacy gift will ensure that the support for 4-H will be there for many years to come to assist the children in Louisiana. Including the 4-H Foundation in your will or estate plan means that we will be there to provide funding to Louisiana youth, long after you are no longer here to help them. Your sacrificial gift will continue to touch many lives for generations to come. Be a philanthropist today, and leave a legacy for tomorrow.

Tax Deductions
Gifts made payable to the Louisiana 4-H Foundation are tax deductible. Substantial savings in estate taxes may result through bequests, trusts and life insurance policies through the designation of the Louisiana 4-H Foundation as beneficiary. By contributing gifts or highly appreciated property, such as stocks or land, capital gains taxes can be reduced or eliminated.
