A million memories have been made at 4-H Camp at Camp Grant Walker, which is celebrating 100 years in 2022. The past two years have been difficult. The facility has been shuttered because of the COVID-19 pandemic and damage endured during hurricanes Laura and Delta in 2020.

But the campgrounds won’t be quiet this year! With repairs underway another season of 4-H Camp will commence this summer. Friendships will be formed, challenges met and memories made.

To better serve new generations, the camp needs more than repairs. It needs upgrades. These enhancements can expand offerings, update technology and improve the overall camp experience so a million memories can grow into many more.

Camp Grant Walker is the premier Louisiana 4-H facility, providing quality field trips, off-season programs and other great educational activities to thousands of 4-H youth and to the general population throughout the year.

The facility in Pollock, Louisiana, is a home away from home each summer for nearly 5,000 students who experience fun, friendship and skill-building activities.

The facility’s bunkhouses, classrooms, conference center and verdant grounds aren’t empty when summer ends. It is also the camping location for other youth-serving organizations, such as the Muscular Dystrophy Association youth camp. The center also hosts a multitude of trainings, team-building exercises, youth outdoor programs, shooting sports activities and even weddings year-round.

Camp Grant Walker serves youth from all 64 parishes through 10 weeks of elementary school-level camps and a weeklong middle school camp every year. Other programs throughout the year serve an additional 2,000 youth across the state. The facility also hosts year-round activities and events for 1,500 members of the public annually.
