The Wellness Wednesday Program is an important component of the AgCenter's Healthy Community Initiative. It links health-care professionals with the general public in a series of virtual presentations highlighting health related topics. The Wellness Wednesday Program is community driven and takes place within a community context.

The Wellness Wednesday Program:

  • Empowers target audiences and community volunteers to advocate for community well-being by participating in the selection of topics and speakers, and distributing health information, thus building capacity
  • Develops a media presence of the AgCenter to highlight its role in community health as a trusted source of research-based information
  • Gives health professional collaborators access to sectors of the community that need their services

This approach, which is both place-based and virtual, connects urban and rural community members to important health resources. It also promotes the community presence and relevance of the LSU AgCenter to the citizens of Louisiana.
