There are four known genetic lineages of Phragmites which are known to occur in Louisiana. The “Delta” lineage is the dominant community in the lower Mississippi River Delta, and appears to be the most susceptible to the scale and die-off syndrome. Patches of “European” and “Greeny” have also been observed growing among the “Delta” Phragmites.
