Louisiana Arboviral Surveillance Sampling Standards 2013 |
Centers for Disease Control Surveillance Guidelines |
The Louisiana Arboviral Working group's sampling committee provides annual updates to the sampling standards for the state of Louisiana. Attached you will find the most current standards put together by representatives from the Office of Public Health, Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine, LSU AgCenter and St. Tammany Mosquito Abatement District.
The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has a 77-page document that covers guidelines for surveillance, control and prevention of West Nile virus. These guidelines can be a great tool to provide a foundation of knowledge on mosquito surveillance and control, especially in districts setting up new programs. However, it is important to realize that each state, parish and region may have it's own unique mosquito habitats, mosquito fauna, challenges and opportunities.
