LSU/LPMA Summer Institute

The LSU AgCenter and the Louisiana Pest Management Association will be holding their annual Summer Institute July 15-30. Topics include a wide range of urban and medically important insects, along with current updates on federal regulations. Classes are held Mondays and Tuesdays over a three-week period.

Medical and veterinary entomology course

The Department of Entomology will be offering a graduate-level course in fall 2013 in Medical and Veterinary Entomology. Students in the course will discover the arthropod pests that affect human and animal health. Throughout the semester, we will explore the biology of the arthropod pests and the disease-causing pathogens they transmit to humans, pets, livestock and wildlife. Each week we will discuss an arthropod group of concern, along with diseases they transmit in both temperate and tropical areas.
