Phase 1 (Schedule of classroom trainings.)

Phase 1 includes 5-6 hours of classroom instruction related to conservation, water quality, sustainability, and environmental stewardship. The Member (Participant) will receive credit for this phase after attending an in-person training or recorded online version. Topics discussed include:

  • The Clean Water Act (CWA) of 1972
  • National & Louisiana water quality standards
  • Non-point Source Pollution Program
  • Prescribed Burn Management (when applicable)
  • Scenic Rivers and Streams
  • Best Management Practices (BMPs)
  • Role of Conservation Districts in conservation planning and implementation
  • The NRCS Planning Process
  • Conservation Programs

In-Person trainings for 2025:

  • May 21 - CANCELLED due to lack of attendance - Vermilion Parish Extension Office, Abbeville 9am-3pm
  • May 27 - Rescheduled for June 17-Tangipahoa Parish Extension Office, Amite 11am-5pm
  • July 8 - Jason Lingo Community Center, Oak Grove 1pm-7pm
  • July 18 - Hill Farm Research Station, Homer 9am-3pm
  • October 8 - Cottonport Community Center, New Roads 9am-3pm

Please note pre-registration is required with a minimum of 5 participants per location or class will be cancelled. A confirmation email will be sent out to all registrants the day prior to the training. If at least five cannot confirm their attendance, the class will be rescheduled.

Recorded Virtual Training:

An online Phase 1 classroom training is now available. To receive credit, you must fill out an online REGISTRATION FORM, watch all three modules and take each quiz, and complete an online evaluation. Your information will automatically be submitted and entered into our database. You may start and stop at any time but will not receive credit until all modules are complete.
