11/09 to 11/12/2025: Dr. Vieira attended the 2025 CANVAS meeting, hosted by the American Societies of Agronomy, Crop, and Soil Sciences in Salt Lake City, UT. There he delivered a presentation about "From concept to community: building a responsive extension program in soil fertility" at the Extension & Education Division. In addition to that, he judged graduate students' presentations (Nutrient Management Community and Environmental Quality Community) and served as a Mentor for the Graduate Student Networking section.

11/07/2025: Dr. Vieira delivered a presentation on "Fertilizing lawns with purpose: Soil test-driven decisions for North Louisiana" at the Turfgrass Education Day for Turfgrass Professionals in Monroe, LA. 05/27/2025: Mr. Morgan (Northeast Assistant Extension Agent for Livestock and Forages) took Dr. Pereira (Forage Agronomist) and Dr. Vieira (Soil Fertility Specialist) for a farm visit in Jackson Parish. The grower had questions regarding Soil Test Report interpretation, liming materials and erosion control. In the picture is the farm map for soil sampling, simple tool to help on focusing on the less productive areas.

10/28/2024: Mr. Gauthier (Extension Agent for Iberia, St. Martin and St. Mary Parishes) took Dr. Vieira (Soil Fertility Specialist) for a tour and some farm visits through five parishes: St. Martin, Iberia, Vermilion, Acadia and Lafayette. Great opportunity to learn about agricultural activities in southern LA. The landscape was predominantly dominated by rice, sugarcane and some pastures.

05/30/2025: Mr. Deshotel (Central Region ANR Coordinator) took Dr. Kerns (Corn, Cotton and Grain Sorghum Specialist) and Dr. Vieira (Soil Fertility Specialist) for a farm visit in the St. Landry Parish. The grower reported potassium deficiency in corn, despite having applied the recommended rate. It turned out that compaction was the issue, which prevented from the plant roots to explore deeper layers of the soil and access the applied potassium.
