11/09 to 11/12/2025: Dr. Vieira attended the 2025 CANVAS meeting, hosted by the American Societies of Agronomy, Crop, and Soil Sciences in Salt Lake City, UT. There he delivered a presentation about "From concept to community: building a responsive extension program in soil fertility" at the Extension & Education Division. In addition to that, he judged graduate students' presentations (Nutrient Management Community and Environmental Quality Community) and served as a Mentor for the Graduate Student Networking section.

11/07/2025: Dr. Vieira delivered a presentation on "Fertilizing lawns with purpose: Soil test-driven decisions for North Louisiana" at the Turfgrass Education Day for Turfgrass Professionals in Monroe, LA. In the picture, the plants are for a demonstration on the importance of liming only when needed and always based on the soil test report. From left to right: no lime application (acidic soil), fertilizer only (acidic soil), lime + fertilizer (ideal pH), and overlimed + fertilizer (high pH).
10/27/2025: Dr. Vieira was invited as featured speaker at the 2025 Maine Forage Conference in Waterville, ME. There, he delivered one presentation about "Bayou to Boreal: Bridging Soil Health in Louisiana and Maine" and a second one about "Fertility by the Numbers: From Soil Sample to Smart Application".
09/30/2025: Dr. Vieira delivered a presentation on "Evaluating chicken litter for soil health and yield: Insights from field research" at the 2025 Row Crop Agricultural Agent Advisory Meeting in Alexandria, LA.
09/11/2025: Dr. Vieira delivered a lecture on "Understanding new soil test reports for pasture and forage management" at the 2025 Summer Statewide Livestock & Forages Agent Training in Alexandria, LA.
08/22/2025: Dr. Vieira delivered an invited lecture to Dr. Tiago Leite's class on Introduction to Soil Science at the Federal Institute of Ceara in Taua, CE (Brazil). The lecture's topic was "Soil sampling guidelines".
12/05/2024: Dr. Fontenot (Southwest Regional Director) took around 10 extension agents and Dr. Vieira (Soil Fertility Specialist) for a visit to the Philips Bark Processing Co in Brookhaven, MS. They pack over 18,000 bags of substrate mix daily.
08/29/2025: Dr. Vieira delivered a presentation on "Importance of soil pH and hay field fertilization" at the 2025 Northeast Louisiana Haymakers Conference in Jonesville, LA.
05/12/2025: A producer called Dr. Vieira (Soil Fertility Specialist) about the possibility of doing a visit to his cow-calf operation in East Baton Rouge Parish. The grower had questions regarding Soil Test Report interpretation and liming materials.

07/28 - 08/01/2025: Dr. Vieira attended the American Society of Horticulture Science Annual Meeting in New Orleans, LA.
05/27/2025: Mr. Morgan (Northeast Assistant Extension Agent for Livestock and Forages) took Dr. Pereira (Forage Agronomist) and Dr. Vieira (Soil Fertility Specialist) for a farm visit in Jackson Parish. The grower had questions regarding Soil Test Report interpretation, liming materials and erosion control. In the picture is the farm map for soil sampling, simple tool to help on focusing on the less productive areas.
10/28/2024: Mr. Gauthier (Extension Agent for Iberia, St. Martin and St. Mary Parishes) took Dr. Vieira (Soil Fertility Specialist) for a tour and some farm visits through five parishes: St. Martin, Iberia, Vermilion, Acadia and Lafayette. Great opportunity to learn about agricultural activities in southern LA. The landscape was predominantly dominated by rice, sugarcane and some pastures.
07/18/2025: Dr. Vieira delivered a lecture on "Interpreting a Soil Test" at the Statewide Horticulture Agent Training in Hammond, LA. 06/09 - 06/13/2025: Dr. Vieira and Dr. Gauthier (Interim LSU Soil Testing Lab Director) attended the 18th International Symposium on Soil and Plant Analysis in Durham, NC. In this picture is featured the participants on the SERA-IEG-6 Group (Methodology, Interpretation, and Implementation of Soil, Plant, Byproduct, and Water Analyses) that were able to attend the symposium.
10/25/2024: Dr. Ferguson (Extension Agent for Tangipahoa and Washington Parishes) took Dr. Zhou (Precision Ag Specialist), Dr. Huang (Plant Immunity Researcher) and Dr. Vieira (Soil Fertility Specialist) for a tour in three strawberry farms in her area. Great opportunity to learn about the current state of strawberry industry in LA and also about producer needs.
06/01 - 06/04/2025: Dr. Vieira and Dr. Zhou (Precision Agriculture Extension Specialist) attended the 79th Annual Louisiana County Agricultural Agent Association Meeting in Marksville, LA. It was a great opportunity to get to know and to connect with LSU AgCenter Agents.
05/15/2025: Dr. Vieira delivered a lecture on "Interpreting a Soil Test and Making Fertilizer Recommendations" at the 2025 Statewide Livestock & Forages Agent Training in Alexandria, LA.
05/30/2025: Mr. Deshotel (Central Region ANR Coordinator) took Dr. Kerns (Corn, Cotton and Grain Sorghum Specialist) and Dr. Vieira (Soil Fertility Specialist) for a farm visit in the St. Landry Parish. The grower reported potassium deficiency in corn, despite having applied the recommended rate. It turned out that compaction was the issue, which prevented from the plant roots to explore deeper layers of the soil and access the applied potassium.

02/07/2025: Dr. Vieira delivered a presentation to the LSU AgCenter's School of Plant, Environmental, and Soil Sciences Graduate Student Organization, where he shared insights into his background and outlined his plans for extension and applied research efforts.
11/10/2024: Dr. Vieira participated in a panel on "Leadership Skills to Stand Out as a Professional" at the 2024 CANVAS meeting, hosted by the American Societies of Agronomy, Crop, and Soil Sciences in San Antonio, TX. Alongside Dr. Nepal, Dr. Bourns, and Ms. Ganiger, Dr. Vieira shared insights on what they wished they had known as graduate students.
