Climate Change and Crop Productivity: Challenges and Opportunities. By: K. Raja Reddy and William Giles

Dr. Reddy's research focuses on the challenges our world faces in producing enough food, fiber, and ecosystem services for a growing population. With the threat of climate change caused by increased greenhouse gas concentrations and ozone layer depletion, agriculture is highly sensitive to changing weather conditions. His experiments have shown that while high levels of carbon dioxide can enhance plant growth, they do not mitigate the damaging effects of higher temperatures and UV-B radiation on crop yield. By studying genotype-by-environment interactions, Dr. Reddy aims to assist breeders in selecting resilient crop varieties for a changing climate. The goal is to ensure future food security and meet the increasing demand for goods and services through innovative tools and technologies. View this PDF for more information.
