Extension Demonstrations

Extension demonstrations are conducted annually in numerous parishes. The objective of these demonstrations is to evaluate new varieties and continue to evaluate proven or recommended varieties under actual conditions. These large-scale demonstrations are conducted primarily by the parish county agent with assistance from the state specialist and seed dealers.

The on-farm demonstrations allow producers to get a more local evaluation of selected varieties closer to a particular farming operation. Recently, the “core block” concept has been initiated, whereby only recommended varieties are tested in the core blocks over several locations in the state. The response to the core blocks has been exceptional. If you are interested in hosting a crop demonstration, please contact your parish county agent .
