- E. coli Expression System
The following steps outline the process for protein expression using our E coli system. Prices for each step are included.
1) Subclone the gene of interest into the appropriate E. coli vector
The gene of interest is amplified by PCR, purified and ligated to the appropriate vector. After purification, E. coli is transformed using the vector and verified by DNA sequencing. Cost: $425 for first construct; $300 for second construct. Contact Ted Gauthier for additional constructs.
2) Pilot protein extraction and Western blot analysis
Pilot expression in 50 mL of medium will be performed. Both soluble and cell pellet fractions will be analyzed by SDS-PAGE gel electrophoresis and Western blot analysis to confirm protein expression. Cost: $350 for first construct; $250 for second construct. Contact Ted Gauthier for additional constructs.
