This floor is made of local Louisiana Pecan. Pecan is a popular option for wood flooring because the wood has many natural color deviations, which give homeowners and designers more options for the floor.
Pecan wood is a durable option for hardwood floors as it does not scratch or dent while also being more affordable compared to other popular options. Additionally, it will not discolor in the sun, which is common with other wood floors.
Pecan wood can be prone to warping in moisture rich areas, so it’s important to ensure that it’s avoided in rooms that are prone to moisture, like a kitchen. Monitoring and maintaining healthy humidity in the home is another way to ensure that pecan floors have a long life.
The paint used is low VOC paint which does give off as many volatile compounds compared to traditional paints.
