The research-based facility is located on LSU's Baton Rouge campus and displays home-building techniques and solutions for Louisiana's unique climate. LaHouse is open weekdays from 10 am to 4:30 p.m. for self-guided tours or can be toured completely virtually.

There are many benefits to a French door refrigerator. They have very wide interior shelves which can accommodate larger containers. Because the doors are split down the middle, they are perfect for smaller kitchen as the doors have a much smaller range of motion.
This option also has an extra “chill drawer” just above the freezer that is commonly used for drinks. The additional organization built into this fridge ensures that all food is visible and organized. The middle drawer is also more accessible for someone who uses a wheelchair and cannot reach the top shelves of the fridge.
French door refrigerators are more expensive than traditional models and tend to have large freezer drawers without shelves which can be harder to organize. The drawer lower to the ground could be difficult for people with limited mobility to grab things from this drawer.
A dual drawer dishwasher has the same capacity as a traditional dishwasher, but each drawer can be run individually for energy efficiency. Running a dishwasher that is not full wastes water and energy, but a dual drawer allows you to run only half a load.
You can also set each drawer to run different cycles depending on the dishes you put in each. This removes the need to run a half-full dishwasher because certain dishes, like delicate glass, need a particular washing cycle.
