LaHouse is a display of high-performance building practices to create more sustainable, resilient and healthy homes in the gulf region. The research-based facility is located on LSU's Baton Rouge campus and displays home-building techniques and solutions for Louisiana's unique climate. LaHouse is open weekdays from 10 am to 4:30 p.m. for self-guided tours or can be toured completely virtually.

Low-e, insulated clad wood frame

Low-e glass means the heat contact on the exterior side of the windows does not radiate inside the home.

These windows give the aesthetic of wooden frames without the high price. Aluminum is durable enough to prevent damage from storms or pests. These windows are also very energy efficient and will keep the room at a comfortable temperature regardless of the weather.

Impact rated unit, laminated glass

Because there is no awning or porch, this window is impact rated in the event of storm debris. Laminated glass means that the two panes of glass are bonded together with a vinyl or film layer. If something breaks the window, that layer holds it together rather than the glass shattering on the floor.

Same appearance as LR non-impact windows

Visually, laminated glass is not noticeably different from other windowpanes. It’s a great way to make your home more durable without sacrificing the curbside appeal of a home.
