The research-based facility is located on LSU's Baton Rouge campus and displays home-building techniques and solutions for Louisiana's unique climate. LaHouse is open weekdays from 10 am to 4:30 p.m. for self-guided tours or can be toured completely virtually.

Replacing stagnant air inside your home with fresh air helps maintain good air quality and keep the house at a comfortable temperature.
The duct brings air inside to the HVAC system or to a dehumidifier if installed.
Adding vent filters provides an extra line of defense against dust and allergens. The filters will require regular changing, just as the primary filter does. The most significant drawback of vent filters is restricted airflow. This can cause the system to work harder.
Dampers act like dams. When closed, a damper prevents air from flowing through certain vents. They function as valves in the ducts, determining which portion of the building requires how much heated/cooled air to reach the desired settings or, in this case, how much air inlets to the HVAC system.
