To enroll in 4-H go to v2.4honline.com or click on the QR code below. If you have never enrolled in 4-H using 4HOnline, click Don't Have an Account and answer the questions. Once you complete your family’s information, click Create Account. Enter your family’s address information and click Verify. Then continue to the section for adding a new member to the family and answer all questions until you finish and pay. If you already were in 4-H and have a 4HOnline account, go the website or click the QR code and enter your email address and password to sign in. Click the blue +Add Member button to add a new member, then select the program the member is joining. Click Next. Complete the information about the member and click Next. Continue answering the questions until you click Finish and get to the payment section.

Join 4-H'ers around the country in celebrating National 4-H Week during the week of Oct. 6-12, 2024. This week is set aside by the Cooperative Extension Service and 4-H Clubs in each state to focus attention on the value of 4-H.Through their 4-H clubs, they have fun, make friends, explore new adventures, and develop skills for future success! Louisiana engages more than 113,000 youth in areas including agriculture, STEM, healthy living, leadership and the environment! Lafourche Parish has approximately 900 members in 35 school 4-H clubs. Observed since 1927, National 4-H Week has been a time for 4-H members and their volunteer leaders to celebrate all that is wonderful in 4-H! To celebrate the week, we are sponsoring a Show Your 4-H Pride Contest. We would like each club to create a display to put outside in front of your school. The theme is Beyond Ready. Some of the things the judges will look for are creativity, involvement of the 4-H’ers, appeal, and originality. We want the community to see them, so be creative! We will award First Place and Honorable Mention for each division (Elementary, Middle, Senior, and K-12).Judging begins on Tuesday, October 8, 2024.More details will be sent to leaders.
Calling all 4-H school club officers and leaders! The Lafourche Parish4-H Executive Committee Elections and Officer and Leader Training will be held on Thursday, October 10, 2024, at the Ag Building in Raceland. Each school may send two voting delegates and officers. If you want to run for a parish office, you must be a voting delegate from your school, and we must receive your application electronically sent to stroxclair@agcenter.lsu.eduin the 4-H Office by September 30, 2024.4-H’ers who are in the 4th – 12th grade may run for office. Please see your 4-H leader for more details and an application.
Please call the 4-H Office at 446-1316 as soon as possible if you are a new exhibitor interested in showing livestock or horses in 4-H during this school year so you can receive information on any upcoming events. There are important deadlines that need to be met and are posted on the website. Possession dates for each species are as follows:
As in past years, all market animals and commercial breeding animals are required to be validated through a process of collecting hair samples. The animals are then tagged and “validated”. You will be responsible for contacting the 4-H office to get your validation kits, validating your own animals, and returning the kits to our office with your fees before November 11, 2024, for commercial beef, commercial dairy, market lambs, commercial ewes, market goats and commercial does. Market and commercial hogs will have to be validated before December 2, 2024, using the same process. If you need assistance or have any questions, please call the 4-H office at 985-446-1316.
Opportunities galore!
Attention 4-H Teens! As a club composed of 4-H members at least 13 years of age from throughout the parish, our Lafourche Parish Junior Leader Club focuses on being involved in community service as well as having fun as a group! Helping at parish 4-H events is an annual task completed by many of our Junior Leaders. If interested in joining the club, please make every effort to attend the first meeting on September 19th from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m. at the Ag. Building in Raceland (115 Texas Street).Yearly dues are $20, which include the Junior Leader t-shirt. Don’t forget to bring a friend to join in the fun!
Create a poster that shows your 4-H Spirit and love of Lafourche 4-H! The guidelines for the contest are (1) Poster must be an 11 x 14 white poster board. No foam boards., (2) Do not attach anything to the poster that is more than ½ “thick. (3) Be sure to place your name, grade, and school on the back of the poster in the upper right-hand corner. The posters will be picked up at the October club meetings or can be dropped off at the 4-H Office. Recognition and awards are in the following divisions: Elementary Division- 4th – 5th grade; Middle School Division- 6th – 8th grade; and High School Division- 9th – 12th grade. Purple and blue ribbons will be awarded. Every 4-H club member that makes a poster will receive a ribbon! Everyone’s a winner!
What’s a great theme for 4-H Summer Camp? Send in your most creative ideas for a slogan that is brief and “catchy,” capturing the spirit of 4-H Camp—in 7 words or less along with illustrations. Illustrations must accompany the phrase and will be part of the contest. The winner will receive a $50 monetary award, and it will be used on all publicity for camp and on the camp T-shirt. Think fast...the deadline is October 31st. Your submission must include your full name, grade, age, parish and 4-H Club, complete mailing address, and phone number. Submit your entries by this date to Grant Walker 4-H Educational Center, Camp Catch Phrase, 3000 Hwy. 8, Pollock, LA, 71467, or email to CampGrantWalker@agcenter.lsu.edu.
Challenge Camp will be held for 7th and 8th graders on November 19-20, 2024, at the Acadian Baptist Center in Eunice, LA for 13 4-H club members. Priority will be given to first-time campers. Please call the 4-H Office at 985-446-1316 by October 25th to register and give your T-shirt size. There will be a registration fee of $125.00 to attend.

A Lafourche Parish 4-H Shooting Sports Registration Meeting will be held on Thursday, September 5th, at 5:30 P.M. at the Ag Building in Raceland. All interested members should attend with a parent. There will also be a field day on September 12th at 5:30 P.M. at the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Rifle Range in Raceland to see the disciplines in action! 4-H’ers throughout Lafourche Parish participated in the Garden Contest last spring. They selected a site, made rows, planted their crops, kept records, and picked their harvest. The State Horse Show was held at the Beauregard covered arena in DeRidder from July 9-12, 2024.Lafourche was well represented at the show with the following winners Gracyn Guidry, St. Charles Elementary, High Point – Timed Events 13 & Under, Stake Race 13 & Under – 1st Place, Pole Bending 13 & Under - 2nd Place, Barrel Racing 13 & Under - 6th Place; Emma Percle, Thibodaux High, Premier Exhibitor – 4th Place, Stake Race 14 & Over – 10th Place, Barrel Racing 14 & Over – 9th Place and Goat Tying 14 & Over – 7th Place; Olivia Nelton, Raceland Upper, Pole Bending 13 & Under – 8th Place and Emily Rodrigue, Larose-Cut Off Middle, Pole Bending 14 & Over – 6th Place.
We also have a Southern Regional 4-H Horse Show Winner! Gracyn Guidry competed in the Southern Regional 4-H Horse Championships in Perry, Georgia, and won 1st place out of 100 in Pole Bending, 1st place out of 99 in Stake Race and received Reserve Champion High Point for the Speed Events! Congratulations to all on a job well done!

4-H University which was held June 18-21, 2024, on the campus of Louisiana State University. Lafourche Parish was proudly represented by 29 competitors who won 55 medals in various contests from Fishing Sports to Photography, and even Career Preparation! Our Outdoor Skills Team and Meat ID Individual were State Champions! The Outdoor Skills team won a trip to Ignite in Washington, D.C. and it consisted of Joel Orgeron, Member-at-Large, 2nd place individual; Rana Orgeron, Member-at-Large, 3rd place individual; and Ethan Orgeron, Member-at-Large, 6th place individual. Bob Bourgeois, Thibodaux High was awarded a trip to compete in the National Meat Id Contest in Manhattan, Kansas for his 1st place individual award and 2nd place team. Zayle Falgout, Central Lafourche, won 7th place in Career Preparation, 5th place team in Teens Driving Teens and 8th place in Visual Arts; Rhylee Gros, VAL St. Mary, placed 2nd individual in Consumer Decision Making and 7th in Photography; Izabella Clement, E.
