2025 LSU AgCenter Livestock Project. Possession dates.


As in past years, all market animals and commercial breeding animals are required to be validated through a process of collecting hair samples. The animals are then tagged and “validated”. You will be responsible for contacting the 4-H office to get your validation kits, validating your own animals, and returning the kits to our office with your fees before August 16, 2024, for steers, November 11, 2024, for commercial beef, commercial dairy, market lambs, commercial ewes, market goats and commercial does. Market and commercial hogs will have to be validated before December 2, 2024, using the same process. If you need assistance or have any questions, please contact Suzanne Troxclair at 985-446-1316.

  • August 16, 2024
  • Must be validated by exhibitor and submitted to parish LSU AgCenter office on or buy August 16, 2024, by 4:30 pm.

Beef and Dairy Commercial Heifers, market Lambs and Commercial Ewes, Market Goats and Commercial Does:

  • November 11, 2024
  • Must be validated by exhibitor and submitted to parish LSU AgCenter office on or by November 11, 2024, by 4:30 pm.

Market and Commercial Hogs:

  • December 2, 2024
  • Must be validated by exhibitor and submitted to parish LSU AgCenter office on or by December 2, 2024, by 4:30 pm.

Breeding Animal Possession Dates:

  • November 11, 2024: Beef, sheep, goat, dairy breeding
  • November 18, 2024: Miniature cattle
  • December 2, 2024: Swine breeding, exhibition poultry
