Lafourche 4-H'ers attend Camp

Eighty-seven Lafourche Parish 4-H members, eight junior leaders and four adult leaders attended Grant Walker 4-H Educational Center in Pollock, LA July 1-5, 2019. “4-H Camp-Living the Dream” was the theme of this year’s summer camp.

4-H’ers from Lafourche were joined by an additional 400 4-H members from other parishes. Each club member selected an educational track to experience each morning. Tracks included Food & Fitness, Get Ready, get SET – Science, Engineering & Technology, Outdoor Adventures, Explore Louisiana:Wetlands, Wildlife, and YOU!, The Artist Within, Renewable Energy and Hunter’s Safety Certification.Each afternoon the groups rotated to participate in the following activities: arts and crafts, archery, canoeing, line dancing and technology. Additional evening activities included watching movies, dancing, swimming or doing arts and crafts projects.

Eight high school members of the parish Junior Leader club served as counselors: Morgan Jennings, Dani Percle, Christian Ricouard, De’Andrew Thomas from Thibodaux High School, Gracie Pepper from E. D. White, Cole Martin and Seth Mitchell from Central Lafourche and Branden Ledet from South Lafourche. Adult leaders were Trixy Boudreaux, Abbie Lee, Blair Mitchell and Chad Boudreaux along with Lafourche Parish Extension agents Donna Naquin and Teddi Folse.
