(08/31/21) BATON ROUGE, La. — The LSU AgCenter Extension COVID Immunization Training and Education (EXCITE) program will host two online forums with Shreveport-area physicians to address questions about COVID-19 and vaccinations.
The first forum will be held Tuesday, Sept. 7, at noon and will focus on women’s health, fertility and pediatrics.
Panelists include Dr. Hollie McCart and Dr. Lauren McCalmont, both OB-GYNs with Willis-Knighton Pierremont OB-GYB Specialists; pediatrician Dr. Mackey Quinlan with Pierremont Pediatrics; and Dr. Lindsey T. Brown with Willis-Knighton Family Practice.
The second forum will be Friday, Sept. 10, at noon. The topic is general vaccine questions, including family medicine and emergency medicine.
Panelists are Dr. Karuna Dewan, otolaryngologist and director of ArkLaTex Center for Voice, Airway, and Swallowing at the LSU Health Sciences Center in Shreveport; Dr. Avery Callahan, doctor of osteopathic medicine and associate professor of emergency medicine with the LSU Health Sciences Center in Shreveport and chief medical director of the Shreveport Fire Department; and Dr. Jennifer O'Neal with Stonewall Family Medicine.

The EXCITE program is funded through a grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture National Institute of Food and Agriculture and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The program aims to promote vaccine confidence and increase vaccine rates.
