Louisiana MarketMaker connects growers to buyers

LSU AgCenter Farm to School Program director Crystal Besse (right) and Allessandro Holzapfel, LSU AgCenter extension associate with the Louisiana MarketMaker Program (center), talk with Southern University extension agent Odis Hill (left) about ways to market locally grown produce by connecting growers with potential buyers. Besse and Holzapfel took part in the LSU AgCenter Sweet Potato Field Day held Aug. 22, hosted by Black Gold Farms in Delhi. The team has been visiting with growers in the area to explore new marketing methods and are working with schools to promote the Harvest of the Month program where locally grown produce is being introduced in school lunch programs.
