Welcome to the Wonderful World of 4-H! We are proud to be the largest positive youth development organization in the country. It is open to students who are ages 9-19 as of January 1, 2023. In 4‑H, members complete hands-on projects in areas like health, science, agriculture, and civic engagement in a positive environment where they receive guidance from adult leaders and are encouraged to take on proactive leadership roles.
This club is NOT just for kids who show livestock animals. Project areas range from environmental science to art and include everything in between. Livestock is just a fraction of what 4-H has to offer. Our broad range of projects can be found on the back of the enrollment card – check it out to see what project areas interest you!
Pick up and complete the 4-H Enrollment Card (packet) at school and return it to school with club dues by September 23. Here is a list of school leaders:
All 8th – 12th grade 4-H members are encouraged to join and participate in the Jr. Leader Club. This club is full of fun and friendship! Members will get to attend the fun-interactive monthly meetings and participate in the service activities the club works with each year. The Jr. Leader club also helps to run parish 4-H activities by serving as judges, registering participants, and setting up for contests. We will rely on this group more than ever to help with our programming.
You will want to join us at our first meeting which will be held on September 15 at 6:30 pm at the 4-H office in Abbeville. ALL interested 8-12th graders are invited. At that meeting, the officers will reveal the service-learning topic selected for this year and outline the plan for activities and trip destination!

The officers of the Vermilion Parish 4-H Junior Leader Club have discussed and determined their service project for the 2022-2023 school year. After spending a night in the cabins at Palmetto Island State Park, the officers have planned out a list of activities for the next 9 months, all of which will be revealed at the first meeting on September 15th. There will be something to appeal to everyone, with guest speakers, hands-on activities, and day trips to places around the state. The highlight of the year will be the 4-day, out-of-state trip during Spring break.
All 8-12th Graders are Invited to Attend!
Bash On The Bayou!

Our 4-H Summer Sewing Camp was a hit! Because of the popularity (and the FUN), we will be hosting a monthly 4-H Sewing Project Club. The group will meet on the second Wednesday of each month at the 4-H Office at 5:30 starting in October. Members who attend will work through the 4-H Clothing Project Book and will sew projects and garments that can be entered in a variety of parish 4-H contests. Members who have their own sewing machine will be asked to bring it each month. Members who do not have a machine will be able to borrow one from the 4-H office. Mrs. Madlyn Zaunbrecher will lead the group. Register by clicking the link below.
Cost - $30 per member due at first meeting
First Meeting - Wednesday, October 12

163 campers, 36 teen counselors, 37 adult leaders experienced 4-H Summer Camp at Camp Grant Walker - most for the very first time! Campers enjoyed learning about Animal Science, Forestry, Art, Agriculture, Physics and Food & Fitness. They also participated in archery, canoeing, kayaking, line dancing, swimming and shopping in the camp store. This would not have been possible without the amazing Vermilion Parish community support and parent volunteers who helped to make it happen! Check out our Vermilion 4-H Facebook page for more photos from the event.
