Caddo Parish 4-H Youth, Adult and Club Awards

This documents contains information regarding Caddo Parish 4-H Awards for youth, adults and clubs.

Youth Awards:

  • Again this year we will be distributing Activity Guides to youth in grades 6-12. Activity Guides are short leaflets (4 pages) in a variety of subjects that allow youth to explore a topic they are interested in. 4-H members who complete an activity guide and portfolio and turn it in to the 4-H office in April 2022 will receive a certificate and a ribbon. 1st-5th place ribbons will be awarded in the following three grade levels: 6th grade, 7-8th grade, and 9-12th grade. The certificates and ribbons will be distributed by the 4-H leader at their discretion.
  • Spirit of 4-H Award - Elementary, Middle School (6th-8th) and High School – This member should be a role model for other members, exhibit good character, makes serving others a priority and promotes the 4-H’s Head, Heart, Hands, and Health. A completed portfolio or project book is not required to receive this award. Club leader nominates 4-H member for this award in April 2022.
  • Elementary Outstanding 4-H Club Member Award - One member from each club will be selected as an outstanding member. The trophy award will be based on 4-H Portfolio and participation in school 4-H club and parish activities. This award is determined by club leader(s) and submitted in April 2022. Form will be completed and returned to the 4-H office with records books/portfolios.
  • Portfolio Awards - 1st – 5th place ribbons and plaques are awarded to youth who complete and turn in project books and portfolios in each project area in April 2021. For elementary projects: a trophy will be presented to first place winner in each project area providing the project score is above 70%.
  • Sixth Grade Awards: A plaque will be given to the top five (5) parish over-all portfolios with the following guidelines (a) completed the project requirement for one year in one project book (b) participated in at least 3 community service projects and (c) participation in 1 major parish 4-H activity to be considered for 1 of the top 5 awards. Awards are based on scores above 70%.
  • Seventh-Eighth Grade Awards: A plaque will be given to the top five (5) parish over-all portfolios that have followed these guidelines:(a) completed the project requirements for one year in one project book or exemplary completion of 2 or more Activity Guides (b) participated in at least 3 community service projects and (c) one (1) major parish 4-H activity to be considered. Awards are based on scores above 70%.
  • High School Awards: A plaque will be awarded to the top portfolio in citizenship, healthy living, SET and livestock/animals that have followed these guidelines (a) Must have completed project requirements for one year in one project book, (b) participated in at least three (3) community service projects and (c) participated in one major parish 4-H activity. Awards are based on scores above 80%.
  • 4-H Scholarships: The Caddo 4-H Foundation awards a variety of scholarships to qualifying youth on the parish level. Youth must complete the state scholarship application by the due date to be eligible for the parish scholarships (March 1, 2022). Information about parish scholarships is available in January 2022 from the 4-H office.
  • Outstanding 4-H Club Award: Criteria for receiving this award is (1) member participation in club (2) prepared officers and officer participation (3) monthly club program presented (4) leadership of youth and (5) member participation in parish events. This award is determined by agents’ observations.
  • Service-Learning Award: Clubs that conduct service learning project throughout the year and submit a Service Learning Report form in April 2022.
  • ALL Club leaders will be recognized for their service to the Caddo 4-H program during the parish awards program.

Adult Awards

Caddo Parish volunteers are recognized for 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 40, and 50 years of service at the parish awards program.
