Website Content Coordinator

Work Location: Communications Department, LSU AgCenter, Baton Rouge, La.

Job Description: Provides support and coordination for the LSU AgCenter’s internet and intranet outreach efforts and services. Provides direction in the organization and design of the web structure and in the continual reorganization, development, maintenance, visibility, and promotion of the website. Coordinates efforts of key individuals including faculty and staff in providing content, updating content, marketing, and design, and web-related content training. Works closely with both LSU AgCenter Information Technology and Communications teams to ensure that lsuagcenter.com is a vital and effective tool to find high quality research and extension information from the LSU AgCenter.

Duties

  • Provide marketing assistance to reach targeted audiences, design of web pages and other components (i.e. animation, interactive applications, audio and/or video) and training in the proper use of publishing tools.
  • Maintain and coordinate the development of new content, updating existing content, removing outdated content, while reviewing the site to ensure that Web-deliverable content is of high quality and relevant to current interests, and is available to the largest possible web audience.
  • Maintain and supervise continual development of an organizational structure for all internet efforts that will facilitate successful use by AgCenter clientele and personnel. Sought web material must be easily identified and retrieved using commonly available external search engines and internal search tools.
  • Assist faculty and staff in web-based content creation and upkeep, and help coordinate efforts of parishes, departments, regions, and research station to develop engaging content for their respective webpages.
  • Assist with editing webpages for content, style, and grammar.
  • Ensure the Americans Disabilities Act (ADA) website compliance guidelines are followed on new content and assist with efforts to remediate older content.
  • Participate in weekly Communications and Information Technology meetings to discuss web strategies and tools.
  • Integrate web strategies with social media strategies.
  • Provide support to help manage the queue of content in the AgCenter’s Content Management System (CMS) as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned by the CIO and Communications director.

Qualification Requirements: A bachelor’s degree in mass communications, marketing or related field is required. Prior experience in web communications is preferred. The successful candidate must have strong verbal and written communications skills, the ability to manage multiple projects and be self-motived and detail-oriented.

Salary and Benefits: Salary will be commensurate with education and experience. The LSU AgCenter has an attractive benefits package with a wide variety of benefit options. The candidate selected for this position may qualify for an Endowed Professorship depending on experience, academic rank, and accomplishments.
