Work Location: This position is located at the LSU AgCenter Hammond Research Station in Hammond, La.
Job Description: The successful applicant will assist with faculty research and demonstration projects as well as support the ongoing ornamental plant trials, and other activities at the Hammond Research Station. Coordination of field, greenhouse, and laboratory research related to landscape horticulture will be a primary focus for the position. Duties will be to design, establish, maintain, evaluate, and collect and analyze data from research studies and ornamental plant trials. The applicant should be able to coordinate graduate students and train and supervise student employees and farm crew employees. Equipment operation and pesticide application will be necessary. The successful applicant should be familiar with the development and presentation of extension related educational materials and seminars for County Agents and LSU AgCenter Clientele. Participation in professional and producer meetings is expected. Successful applicant is encouraged to pursue an advanced degree in Horticulture.
Qualification Requirements: B.S. or M.S. (preferred) in horticulture or a plant science related field. Familiarity with the handling of pesticides, field plot techniques, demonstration research projects, ornamental horticulture, and knowledge of landscape and greenhouse management. Knowledge of computer applications, statistical methodology and social media are desirable.
