Work Location: Sugar Research Station, Louisiana State University Agricultural Center, St. Gabriel, Louisiana.
Responsibilities: Conduct and provide supervision for farming operations in support of field research related to sugarcane at the LSU Agricultural Center Sugar Research Station at St. Gabriel, Louisiana. Incumbent will support research conducted by Sugar Research Station faculty and sugarcane research scientists from other AgCenter units. Duties will include responsibility for all aspects of sugarcane farming operations under supervision of the farm manager and direct supervision of classified employees and transient labor. Applicant should be willing and able to perform physical work outdoors.
Qualification Requirements: A bachelor’s degree in plant sciences, agronomy, plant disease management, plant pest management, or related discipline from an accredited college or university.Other degrees may be accepted with experience or education related to job duties.Knowledge and experience in working in an agriculture research setting and a working knowledge of farming practices and operation of farm machinery, is highly desirable. Computer skills are also desirable.
