(Process and Package Innovation)

(This is a non-tenure track position.Funding must be available and satisfactory performance for any continuation of appointment, with an expected term of 1 year)

WORK LOCATION: School of Nutrition and Food Sciences, LSU AgCenter, Baton Rouge, La.

POSITION DESCRIPTION: The School of Nutrition and Food Sciences at the Louisiana State University AgCenter seeks a postdoctoral researcher to work in the process and package innovation. The selected applicant will work on thermal process innovation, packaging, and will participate in outreach activities. The candidate will lead and contribute to projects that enhance a food manufacturing system that promotes innovation in health promoting foods. Outputs include development of process protocols, shelf stable food products, quality assessment data, optimization protocols, development of conferences, seminars, and workforce training. Participation in efforts to build markets and consumer segmentation research is expected.Responsibilities include: Design and conduct experiments, analyze data related to thermal process and packaging.Develop protocols, instruct in use and preparation of samples, learn and use software to document appropriate process conditions and good manufacturing procedures.Develop collaborative relationships with practitioners and networks in the field. Train students and other users of equipment in research/program protocol and data collection techniques. Develop technical and scholarly communications related to process, outcomes, and impacts of research. Develop and conduct workshops, webinars, assessment, trainings related processing and packaging.Present scholarly activity at scientific and professional conferences and submit publications in peer-reviewed journals.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:A PhD from an accredited institution in food science, food engineering, food packaging or other relevant field and experience in research and extension.Demonstrated skills in extension, management of multiple projects with defined deliverables in fast-paced environment.Demonstrated evidence of effective human relation skills; excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite); experience and demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and public speaking among a diverse clientele; proficiency in statistical software packages. A minimum of an “emerging” record of scientific accomplishment by peer-reviewed publications is a must for this position. A valid Louisiana’s Driver’s License is also required.
