WORK LOCATION: School of Renewable Natural Resources, LSU Ag Center, Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
POSITION DESCRIPTION: Postdoctoral Researcher needed for projects using qPCR and blue crab laboratory assays to better understand disease transmission in crabs. The Postdoctoral Researcher will assist with lab data collection; perform qPCR analysis on samples, perform statistical analyses; assist with outreach events for the crab industry; assist or lead preparation of outreach materials and peer-reviewed publications; train technicians and graduate students; assist with procurement and maintenance of equipment and supplies, and complete other job duties as assigned.Some nights and weekend may be required.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: PhD in Marine or Fisheries Sciences or related scientific field. Applicant must have a strong record of publications in peer-reviewed journals, experience with qPCR testing, and be able to demonstrate proficiency in statistical programming languages (e.g., R). Maintenance of marine lab animals (e.g. crabs) experience is preferred. Experience with outreach of technical material is desirable.Applicant must be able to obtain a Louisiana Driver’s License and drive state vehicles.
