The Food and Fitness Board will be hosting their Food and Fitness Day Camp with two locations for 4th-6th grade 4-H’ers.
The 4-H junior leader experience is designed to provide members with the opportunity to learn about the qualities and competencies needed to be a leader. Junior leaders provide assistance with 4-H events and assume more challenging leadership roles. Our junior leader program is a great place to experience new things, complete service-learning projects, meet new friends, travel, and learn the leadership skills necessary in the world. There will be a selected number of shirts at the district show with the remainder going to the state show. Make sure to order online to secure a shirt. The store closes December 19th.
“For the Future” Scholarship: Safety Starts with You!
This program encourages high school seniors (graduating May 2026) and college students to raise awareness about road safety through original video submissions. It’s a chance to make a difference, showcase creativity, and earn scholarship funds.
This K-12 artificial intelligence challenge helps participants understand how AI tools such as chatbots, image generators, and recommendation systems work—and when it's appropriate to use them. Through guided AI learning activities, young people will learn to balance technology with creativity, responsibility, and critical thinking.

The Northeast Louisiana District Livestock Show is scheduled for January 28th-31st in Delhi. The LSU AgCenter State 4-H/FFA Livestock Show is scheduled for February 14th-21st at the Lamar Dixon Expo Center in Gonzales. Contact Ms. Lucas for more information.
The Louisiana 4-H Food Challenge is a competitive cooking event where teams of two to four 4-H members have 40 minutes to create a dish using a mystery ingredient and access to a “grocery store” of other items. From the ingredients, team members are challenged to create a healthy dish while practicing proper food safety, food preparation, and communication skills. Following the dish preparation, teams then give a 5-minute presentation to a panel of judges on the details and nutritional information of their dish followed by a question-and-answer portion.
The top three winning teams from each division at each regional event will advance to the State Louisiana Food Challenge to be held in Alexandria on May 20th.
Create a card to be given to residents at Lake Providence Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. The residents deserve to know that their local 4-H’ers care about them during Valentine’s Day. Cards are due Wednesday, February 11th.
This 3-day event is designed to engage and inspire 7th-8th grade 4-H members with a keen interest in government relations, volunteering/service, and personal development. The summit aims to provide a learning environment where participants can deepen their understanding of civic engagement, refine their leadership skills, and develop a strong sense of social responsibility. Through a series of hands-on educational workshops, engaging tours, and collaborative service projects, youth will have the opportunity to explore critical aspects of civic education, public service, and personal growth.
The Spark~Action~Change Summit will be held February 19th-21st on the LSU Campus in Baton Rouge. Cost: $125 per participant which includes lodging, meals, educational experiences, and conference swag. Transportation to and from the summit is not included in the cost. The mask must be made by the 4-H’er using the paper template provided by Ms. Lucas. Use Mardi Gras beads to create artwork. Divisions in each contest will be 4th-5th grades and 6th-12th grades. Awards in each division in each contest will be 1st Place ($15), 2nd Place ($10), and 3rd Place ($5). Masks and Bead Art are due Friday, February 13th.
The Louisiana 4-H Foundation sponsors the 4-H Honor Cord Award to recognize graduating 4-H seniors who have demonstrated sustained commitment to 4-H through participation in state and parish programs. Recipients wear green and white cords at graduation as a symbol of achievement.

This award highlights leadership, service, and skills gained in 4-H, marking graduates as Beyond Ready for their future endeavors.
The family of Mr. Charles and Ms. Rose Broussard have graciously funded a program in the name of their parents that provides an opportunity for a paid internship at one of three research stations within the LSU AgCenter system. The internship program is open to both high school and college students and provides an opportunity for the student to gain practical experience with agricultural research being conducted at one of three research stations: H. Rouse Caffey Rice Research Station, Iberia Research Station, or Dean Lee Research Station. Interested students should complete the Charles and Rose Broussard Internship application form and return it along with a resume to Dr. Kurt Guidry by February 20th.
The Grant Walker 4-H Educational Center offers a wide variety of additional youth programming opportunities throughout the year. Note: LSU AgCenter policy requires all adults attending an overnight event with youth to complete our overnight chaperone training and screening process.
Eco Quest is a one-day workshop for 4th-6th grade 4-H members where they dive into what it means to be great environmental stewards. These young explorers will embark on a hands-on journey through four exciting stations, each challenging curiosity, building awareness, and inspiring action to help protect our planet.
The second Louisiana 4-H Esports “season” is underway. This season once again consists of five regional tournaments and concludes with finals at 4-H University (4-H U). The age range in the Jr. Division has been extended to grades 4-7. The Sr. Division is still grades 8-12. There will be three titles offered at the regional tournament (Rocket League will be offered at 4-H U):
Please visit Louisiana 4-H Esports for rules and information on each title. Youth can compete in multiple titles at the same tournament. Sr. Division teams competing in Rocket League will also be qualifying for their invitation to compete in the finals at 4-H U.
Dates and locations for 2026 Esports Regional Tournaments:
Throughout the 2025-2026 school year, earn unique pins for each outdoor activity you complete – from kite flying and kayaking to tree identifying and star gazing. Collect five pins to become an “Outdoor Explorer,” and complete eight or more activities to earn the Trailblazer Medal. Top participants will also win a special outdoor gear prize!
The 2026 4-H Scholarship should be submitted by Friday, February 20th.
Learn more about the beef industry while promoting beef production, products, and nutrition. This contest is open to 4-H and FFA members between 4th and 12th grades. There are four divisions: Division I (4th-6th grades); Division II (7th-9th grades); Division III (10th-12th grades); and Division DIGITAL (Open division – all ages compete together).
4-H and FFA divisions compete against each other and therefore participants may only enter as either a 4-H or FFA poster or design. Competitors must choose to compete in either the poster or digital competition, participants cannot participate in both divisions in the same year.
Entries must be submitted to the 4-H Office by March 6th.
The LSU College of Agriculture offers personalized visits for high school students to learn more about LSU and the College of Agriculture. Students can schedule a visit to campus by visiting LSU College of Ag Opportunities.
This contest is for any Bonafide 4-H club member. There are three divisions: Division I (4th – 6th grades); Division II (7th – 8th grades); and Division III (9th – 12th grades).
4-H members are to draw a billboard that encourages or promotes the consumption of milk and milk products from dairy cattle only and their importance for health.
Entries must be submitted to the 4-H Office by March 6th.
