The 4-H junior leader experience is designed to provide members with the opportunity to learn about the qualities and competencies needed to be a leader. Junior leaders provide assistance with 4-H events and assume more challenging leadership roles. Our Junior Leader program is a great place to experience new things, complete service-learning projects, meet new friends, travel, and learn the leadership skills necessary in the world. The Northeast Louisiana District Livestock Show is scheduled for January 28th-31st in Delhi. The LSU AgCenter State 4-H/FFA Livestock Show is scheduled for February 14th-21st at the Lamar Dixon Expo Center in Gonzales.
All livestock must be entered into 4-H Online by the exhibitor on or before the listed possession deadlines to be eligible for the 2026 District and State LSU AgCenter Livestock Shows. Contact Ms. Lucas for more information.
The Parish 4-H Commodity Cookery Contest will be held on Wednesday, November 12th with registration from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. at the 4-H Office. All 4-H members may enter any or all categories. Only one dish per category, please. Only one serving per contest entry is required. All entries must arrive on ice in a hard insulated ice chest-type carrier. Entries must be dropped off at the 4-H Office between 8 and 9 a.m. Please pick up your dish(es) and carrier after school the same day. If the items are not picked up within two days of the contest, they may be discarded. See your leader or contact Ms. Lucas for more details.

National 4-H Conference is hosted by the National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA). Louisiana 4-H has an application and interview process to select our four delegates. These delegates represent Louisiana 4-H at the National 4-H Conference.
At National 4-H Conference, each delegate chooses a topic to research, discuss, and formulate a briefing to present to federal agencies. These topics are real world issues that federal agencies are working to address and want youth perspective to inform their work. Youth will spend several days meeting in small groups to discuss the challenge question, share their perspectives, and formulate a response presentation. They will visit with those federal agencies to formally present their feedback.
The Conference will take place April 10-15 at the Hyatt Regency Crystal City Hotel in Arlington, Virginia. The application is listed as an event in 4-H Online: NCD 2026 – National Conference Delegate Application – and will be open through November 15th. 4-H members must start their application, complete all registration information, answer the essay questions, and submit registration. The 4-H AI in Agriculture Challenge invites youth to explore how artificial intelligence can solve real-world agricultural problems. Participants will identify a challenge within the agriculture industry and design an innovative AI-based solution. They will showcase how technology can enhance the future of farming. Open to youth innovators nationwide, this challenge combines STEM creativity, real-world problem solving, and the future of agriculture. The challenge closes November 15th. Details, including rubrics, FAQs, and an AI Education Presentation can be found by visiting the Artificial Intelligence Challenge by 4-H.
Winners will be announced during Computer Science week, the second week of December. Two categories of 13–15-year-olds and 16–18-year-olds will be used. Awards in each category for the top winners will be 1st Place - $500; 2nd Place - $400; and 3rd Place - $300.
The Food and Fitness Board will be hosting their Food and Fitness Day Camp with two locations for 4th-6th grade 4-H’ers.
Throughout the 2025-2026 school year, earn unique pins for each outdoor activity you complete – from kite flying and kayaking to tree identifying and star gazing. Collect five pins to become an “Outdoor Explorer,” and complete eight or more activities to earn the Trailblazer Medal. Top participants will also win a special outdoor gear prize!
The National 4-H Council is seeking teen 4-H members who are talented in the arts, especially those in visual arts (drawing, painting, etc.), though singers, dancers, and instrumentalists are also welcome to apply. National 4-H Council will feature youth artwork and will select four 4-H members to showcase their pieces at the annual Spark Gala. Applications are open through December 1st for youth ages 14-19 and submissions from 11–13-year-olds will also be considered. Youth can submit their application and learn more by visiting the National 4-H Council - Youth Artists.
Those interested in showing broiler chicks must complete the LSU Broiler Order Form and submit it with payment by December 1st. The cost of chicks is $.75 each. Pick up/delivery of chicks will be January 8th. More information on pick up/delivery will be available after December 8th.
The second Louisiana 4-H Esports “season” is underway. This season once again consists of five regional tournaments and concludes with finals at 4-H University (4-H U). The age range in the Jr. Division has been extended to grades 4-7. The Sr. Division is still grades 8-12. There will be three titles offered at the regional tournament (Rocket League will be offered at 4-H U):
Please visit Louisiana 4-H Esports for rules and information on each title. Youth can compete in multiple titles at the same tournament. Sr. Division teams competing in Rocket League will also be qualifying for their invitation to compete in the finals at 4-H U.
New for this year is that a total of 10 teams will be selected for invitations to 4-H U. A webinar is scheduled for December 1st to review the tournaments and earn invitations to 4-H U.
Dates and locations for 2026 Esports Regional Tournaments:
January 30, 2026, the New Orleans Pelicans will take on the Memphis Grizzlies. This is the only Friday night game in January on the Pelicans’ schedule. The deadline to purchase tickets is December 10th. Contact Ms. Lucas for more details.
