Join the Junior Leader Club

The 4-H junior leader experience is designed to provide members with the opportunity to learn about the qualities and competencies needed to be a leader. Junior leaders provide assistance with 4-H events and assume more challenging leadership roles. Our Junior Leader program is a great place to experience new things, complete service-learning projects, meet new friends, travel, and learn the leadership skills necessary in the world. LSU College of Ag Opportunities

The LSU College of Agriculture offers personalized visits for high school students to learn more about LSU and the College of Agriculture. Students can schedule a visit to campus by visiting: LSU College of Ag Visit Campus


Jr. Leadership Conference

The Louisiana 4-H Executive Board invites SIX 8th-12th grade (14 years and older) 4-H members on a jungle journey to Junior Leadership Conference 2025. This will be a two-night camp at Camp Grant Walker.

  • When: March 7th-9th
  • Who: SIX 8th-12th grade 4-H members (14 years old and up)
  • Registration Fee: $150
  • Registration Deadline: January 31st

Farm Bureau Scholarship

  • Up to five scholarships will be awarded based on academic achievement, ACT scores, individual leadership, and financial need.
  • Winners will be eligible to receive up to $3,000 during the 2025-2026 academic year.
  • Winners who maintain academic and curriculum eligibility may continue their scholarship for a total of four consecutive years.
  • Applicants or their parents must be current members of the Louisiana Farm Bureau Federation.
  • Applicants must pursue a career in agriculture by choosing a curriculum in agriculture, agribusiness, agriscience, or other curriculum directly benefiting the agricultural sector of Louisiana’s economy.
  • The deadline to apply is February 3rd.

Valentine's Day Card Contest

Create a card to be given to residents at Cypress at Lake Providence nursing home. The residents deserve to know that their local 4-H’ers care about them during Valentine’s Day. Cards are due Monday, February 10th.


4-H Sr. Honor Cords

To receive the 4-H Honor Cord, 4-H members must meet the following requirements:

  • Be a currently enrolled 4-H member and in good standing.
  • Be a graduating senior.
  • Must have been enrolled in 4-H for at least three years of their high school career.
  • Must have participated in at least one state sponsored 4-H program in the past three years or demonstrated exemplary parish-level program involvement.
  • Complete the application form by February 14th.

Mardi Gras Mask Contest

The mask must be made by the 4-H’er. It must be made using the paper template provided by Ms. Lucas. Divisions will be 4th-5th grades and 6th-12th grades. Awards in each division will be 1st Place ($15), 2nd Place ($10), and 3rd Place ($5). Masks are due Friday, February 28th.

Create artwork using Mardi Gras beads. Divisions will be 4th-5th grades and 6th-12th grades. Awards in each division will be 1st Place ($15), 2nd Place ($10), and 3rd Place ($5). Bead artwork due Friday, February 28th.


LEAD-V (LSU Early Admissions in Developing Veterinarians)

Are you interested in becoming a veterinarian? Check this out!

  • High school seniors who have been active in 4-H and/or FFA.
  • Louisiana resident from an area identified as rural.
  • Firm minimum 3.5 GPA at the time of graduation.
  • Firm minimum 23 on the ACT.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience and involvement with food animals, veterinary medicine, and/or production medicine.
  • Identified interest in rural animal medicine/food animal production medicine.
  • Demonstrated leadership and community engagement.
  • Completed application including three letters of reference. One reference letter must be from a 4-H agent or FFA advisor. Letters should speak to the applicant’s qualities/characteristics.
  • Application must be submitted by January of the applicant’s senior year in high school.

Blast Off

Blast Off is a one-day workshop open to 6th grade 4-H’ers which will lead them on an intergalactic journey through the hunger and poverty cosmos. The Citizenship Board will lead these young space explorers to understanding the emotional and physical impacts of hunger and poverty by multiple stations and activities.

  • Where: Louisiana Tech University
  • When: March 31st from 9:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. (lunch provided)
  • Registration Fee: $20
  • Registration Deadline: February 28th

Beef Poster Contest

Louisiana 4-H is hosting the 2024-2025 Louisiana Beef Industry Council Beef Poster Contest. The contest encourages participants to learn more about the beef industry while promoting beef industry nutrition and products.

The contest is open to students in grades 4th through 12th and includes four divisions: Division I (4th to 6th grades); Division II (7th to 9th grades); Division III Poster (10th to 12th grades); and Division III Digital (grades 4th-12th).

Participants are asked to have 4-H poster entries to the 4-H Office by March 8th.

  • The contest theme is Beef - very healthful, very delicious. Posters must be on 22 inches by 28 inches poster board and must include the participant’s name, address, age, grade and parish on the back upper right corner of the poster.
  • Digital entries must be designed using either Microsoft Publisher, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator or Canva. All digital entries must be saved in high resolution 300 dpi in all of the following file formats: original design file, png, and pdf.
  • No templates may be used in the digital division and all design work must be original and from scratch. Participants cannot use copyrighted pictures, clip-art, or other materials. The poster will be disqualified if copyrighted material is used.
  • Awards include $200 to first place winners, $100 to second place winners and $50 to third place winners in each division. Cash prizes are sponsored by the Louisiana Beef Industry Council.

Draw a Dairy Billboard Contest

4-H club members are to draw a billboard that encourages or promotes the consumption of milk and milk products from Dairy Cattle ONLY and their importance for health.

The contest is open to students in grades 4th through 12th and includes three divisions: Division I (4th to 6th grades); Division II (7th to 8th grades); Division III (9th to 12th grades).

Participants are asked to have 4-H poster entries to the 4-H Office by March 8th.

  • Billboard design must be made on 22” x 28” regular poster board size only.
  • DO NOT ATTACH anything to the poster that is more than 1/2” thick.
  • Do not use the commercial brand names of products on the poster. Do not use jingles, slogans, signs, or pictures that are trademark or copyright protected on the poster.
  • BE SURE to print name, address, grade in school and parish on back of the poster in the upper righthand corner. Please fill out the reporting form completely.
  • A 4-H club member is allowed to win first place in each division ONLY ONCE.
  • Parish Award: Rosette ribbon to first place winners. Participation ribbons (purple, blue, or red) for each 4-H’er that draws a dairy billboard (poster).
  • State Award: A $100 check for first place State winners in Division I, II, and III. Second place State winners in each division will receive a $75 check. Third place State winners in each division will receive a $50 check.

4-H Record Book Contest

The Louisiana 4-H Record Book Contest is a traditional event where members choose a project area, develop skills, and document their growth. East Carroll Parish 4-H will host its annual competition with top entries advancing to the state level. The deadline is April 4th. All entries will be recognized at Awards Day.
