Combating Hunger and Poverty in Louisiana is our state and parish service-learning focus for the 2024-2025 year. Opportunities will be offered for you to participate in our statewide focus. Let’s all make a difference in our community and state.

The 4-H junior leader experience is designed to provide members with the opportunity to learn about the qualities and competencies needed to be a leader. Junior leaders provide assistance with 4-H events and assume more challenging leadership roles. Our Junior Leader program is a great place to experience new things, complete service-learning projects, meet new friends, travel, and learn the leadership skills necessary in the world. The LSU College of Agriculture offers personalized visits for high school students to learn more about LSU and the College of Agriculture. Students can schedule a visit to campus by visiting: https://admissions.lsu.edu/portal/campus-tours
The Parish 4-H Commodity Cookery Contests will be held on two days, Tuesday, November 19th and Wednesday, November 20th, with registration from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. each day. All 4-H members may enter any or all categories. Only one dish per category, please. Only one serving per contest entry is required. All entries must arrive on ice in a hard insulated ice chest-type carrier. Entries must be dropped off at the 4-H Office between 8 and 9 a.m. Please make sure you bring the correct serving on the correct day! See your leader or contact Ms. Lucas to get more details.

The 4-H Day of Service will be held Saturday, December 7th. This year's service project will be park clean-up. We encourage everyone to participate in 4-H Day of Service.
This year’s 4-H Night at the Pelicans game is going to be exciting! The New Orleans Pelicans will play against Utah Jazz on Friday, January 17, 2025. Tip-off is at 7 p.m. in the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans. There is a block of seats reserved for 4-H, but they are first-come first-served.
The deadline to purchase tickets is Monday, December 9th.
What: Shreveport Mudbugs Hockey Game
When: January 10th, 2025
Cost: $20 (includes food/drink voucher)
Deadline to register and pay: December 11th
From 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. you’ll have the opportunity to ice skate and learn about the game inside the rink. There will also be bounce houses, bounce courses, poster making, Connect 4, Sumo suits, street hockey, and more. From 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. you will get your food and drink and find you seats. The game will start at 7:11 p.m.
Get in the holiday spirit by using your creativity to design a card for nursing home residents in East Carroll Parish. This is a 4-H contest, and a service project combined. Contest entries will be forwarded to Cypress at Lake Providence. Due December 13th.
The State 4-H Fashion Board is excited to announce Fashion & Beyond on Tour for 2025 – Wednesday, January 15th from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Winnsboro. Tour ticket price is $35 per person. Open to 5th-12th grade 4-H members. The deadline to register and pay is Friday, December 20th. See your 4-H leader or Ms. Lucas for more details.

The Louisiana 4-H Record Book Contest is a traditional event where members choose a project area, develop skills, and document their growth. East Carroll Parish 4-H will host its annual competition with top entries advancing to the state level. The deadline is April 4th. All entries will be recognized at Awards Day.
