Here's how to Join the Club:

  • Attend the 4-H club meeting in your school.
  • Review the 4-H materials given to you.
  • Return the enrollment form to your club leader.
  • Select a 4-H project book.
  • Pay your $5 dues at your school.

Join the Junior Leader Club

The 4-H junior leader experience is designed to provide members with the opportunity to learn about the qualities and competencies needed to be a leader. Junior leaders provide assistance with 4-H events and assume more challenging leadership roles. Our Junior Leader program is a great place to experience new things, complete service-learning projects, meet new friends, travel, and learn the leadership skills necessary in the world. Service-learning Focus

Combating Hunger & Poverty in Louisiana is our state and parish service-learning focus for the 2024-2025 year. Opportunities will be offered for you to participate in our statewide focus. Let’s all make a difference in our community and state.

NE Regional Leadership Board

Your dreams are just ahead of you. Don't let struggles or obstacles stop you. Enjoy the journey -- enjoy the climb! Be a role model for someone else. Join the 2024-2025 NE Regional Leadership Board. Must be at least 14 years old.

  • Help organize the regional 4-H service project.
  • Promote 4-H at Ag Alley, Ag Expo, Ag Adventures, Challenge Camp, 4-H Day at the Capitol, and more.
  • Learn ways to use your leadership skills in your parish and local clubs and community.
  • Earn up to a $75 scholarship toward conference fees for Junior Leadership Conference or 4-H U.

Talk to your 4-H leader or contact Ms. Lucas to get an application. Deadline to apply is September 13th.

Volunteer Leader Forum

The Regional Leader Forum will be held September 16th from 8:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the River of Life Church in Winnsboro. This year’s theme is Soaring to the Top with NE Louisiana 4-H. Youth and adults are welcome to attend. Lunch will be provided, and door prizes will be available.


National 4-H Week

Help celebrate our 4-H program during National 4-H Week: October 6th-12th. Be creative, be innovative, and do what you can to make a positive difference in your school and community. Show your pride by sponsoring school activities throughout the week and help get others to share enthusiasm.


Breast Cancer Poster Contest

Promote Breast Cancer Awareness

  • Draw using colored pencils or crayons or use pictures from magazines or printed images (no copyright material can be used).
  • Write your name, address, school, grade, and teacher on the back of the poster.
  • Posters are due at the 4-H Office on Friday, October 18th.
  • Any size poster is acceptable.

Pumpkin Decorating Contest

  1. Select the perfect pumpkin for your design.
  2. Paint or decorate the pumpkin at home.
  3. Fill out the entry tag that will be given to you, cut it out, and attach it to your pumpkin with tape or string.
  4. Bring your finished pumpkin to the 4-H Office by Wednesday, October 23rd by 4 p.m.

Prizes will be awarded for the following: most original, most unusual, funniest, scariest, and 4-H.


Camp Catch Phrase

Send in your most creative ideas for a slogan in seven words or less. Illustrations must accompany the phrase and will be part of the contest. Contest is open to all 4-H club members. Winning slogan will be one that is brief and “catchy,” capturing the spirit of 4-H Camp Grant Walker.

Artwork and slogan will be used in its entirety or used as the concept for the final artwork. Logo and slogan will be on all publicity for camp and the camp T-shirt, and the winner will receive a $50 monetary award.
All submissions must include:
  • Full name, grade, and age of member submitting
  • Parish and 4-H club
  • Complete mailing address
  • Telephone number
Deadline for receipt of entries is Tuesday, October 29th. Individuals may submit multiple entries and send together. Mail to: Grant Walker 4-H Educational Center, 3000 Hwy. 8, Pollock, LA 71467. OR Email to: campgrantwalker@agcenter.lsu.edu

4-H Membership Drive

4-H is a positive youth development organization delivered through the LSU AgCenter. In 4-H, members complete hands-on projects in areas like health, science, agriculture, and citizenship in a positive environment where they can receive guidance from adult mentors and are encouraged to take on proactive leadership roles. Join 4-H today! The club with the highest percentage of enrollment will win an ice cream or cupcake party. The deadline to register is Friday, November 1st.


4-H Ag Photography Contest

Grab your camera and get to snappin'! Deadline is Friday, November 8th.

Rules:

  • All photos must relate to agriculture.
  • Photos must be taken by individual listed on entry label (get a label from your leader).
  • Entry label must include name, parish, grade, and category.
  • Photos entered must have been taken during 2024 and in Louisiana. All entries must be 8x10 (color or black and white), no other sizes will be accepted.
  • Each photo must include a one-line title.
  • You are limited to enter only one photo in each of the categories listed.
  • Entries cannot be duplicated. Ink jet prints are acceptable.

Categories:

  1. Farm Animals
  2. Horticulture (flowers & gardens), Plants, or Crops
  3. Any Other Agriculture (like farm machinery, barns, silos, hen house, etc.)

4-H Record Book Contest

The Louisiana 4-H Record Book Contest is a traditional event where members choose a project area, develop skills, and document their growth. East Carroll Parish 4-H will host its annual competition with top entries advancing to the state level. The deadline is April 4, 2025. All entries will be recognized at Awards Day.
