Valentine Card Contest

Create a card to be given to residents at Shady Lake Nursing Home. Deadline is Tuesday, February 9.


Mardi Gras Mask Contest

The mask must be made by the 4-H’er! It must be made using the paper template provided by your 4-H agent. Divisions will be 4th-6th and 7th-12th. Awards in each division will be 1st ($15); 2nd ($10); and 3rd ($5). Masks are due February 9.


Junior Leader Conference

“Louisiana 4-H Back to Leadership” – March 10-11 and March 11-12. The conference is open to 9th-12th graders. Each parish may send a maximum of 5 delegates. Workshop tracks are filled as registration is received by earliest date. Deadline to register is February 11 and cost is $45.


4-H Comfort Closet

The goal of the General Trass Senior High 4-H Club Comfort Closet Toiletry Drive is to offer hygiene products to students in need and to promote a culture of giving in our community and among students. Donated items may be given to Mrs. Biaster George at GTHS or dropped off at the 4-H Office. Items needed: deodorant, toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, mouthwash, body wash, feminine hygiene products, lotion, flushable wipes, shampoo


Cooperative Enterprise Teen Leadership Conference

8th-12th graders will have the opportunity to sharpen their marketing and financial management skills as they compete in teams to build and manage their own cooperative business at the 2022 Cooperative Enterprise Teen Leadership Conference. The conference will take place at the Wesley Center in Woodworth, Louisiana, from Thursday, March 24 – Saturday, March 26. The fee is $50. This event is generously sponsored by the Louisiana Council of Farmer Cooperatives. The deadline to register is Friday, February 25.


Scott Foundation Scholarship

Scott Foundation Scholarship applications are due by March 1. Submit completed application by 4:30 p.m. to the 4-H Office.


Drug Free Poster Art Contest

Rules:

  • Use your poster to promote 4-H to others.
  • Write your name, address, school, grade, and teacher on the back of the poster.
  • Posters are due at the school on Tuesday, March 1.
  • The poster shall be an original creation by the submitter.
  • Posters shall be no smaller than 8 1/2 x 11 inches and no larger than 22 x 28 inches.

The focus of the poster must be an anti-drug message. (For more information about substance abuse visit tobaccofreeliving.org)


East Carroll Parish 4-H Strawberry Sale

Sales will help defray costs of 4-H’ers attending 4-H Summer Camp and 4-H University this summer. Orders and payment are due to the East Carroll 4-H Office by Friday, March 4. $23 per flat. Make checks payable to East Carroll 4-H. Thanks for supporting the 4-H program!


Ag Photography Contest

Grab your camera and get to shootin'! Deadline is March 25.

Rules and regulations:

  • All photos must relate to agriculture.
  • Photos must be taken by individual listed on entry label (get a label from your leader).
  • Entry label must include name, parish, grade, and category.
  • Photos entered must have been taken during 2022 and in Louisiana.
  • All entries must be 8"x10" (color or black and white), no other sizes will be accepted.
  • Each photo must include a one-line title.
  • You are limited to enter only one photo in each of the categories listed.
  • Entries cannot be duplicated.
  • Ink jet prints acceptable.

Categories:

  1. Farm Animals
  2. Horticulture (flowers & gardens), Plants, or Crops
  3. Any Other Agriculture (like farm machinery, barns, silos, hen house, etc.)

Dairy Billboard Contest

The 4-H Dairy Billboard contest is open to all 4-H members 4th-12th grades. Deadline for submission is March 25. Your billboard must be on 22 x 28-inch poster board. It must promote milk and milk products – tell about healthy eating with dairy. Do not attach anything to the poster that is more than ½ inch thick. All entries must be properly tagged with a label. See your 4-H leader or Mrs. Powell to get a label. Important: Do not use commercial brands of products on the poster and do not use jingles, slogans, signs, or pictures that are trademark or copyright protected.

Division I – 4th, 5th, & 6th grades; Division II – 7th & 8th grades; Division III – 9th-12th grades

First place winners will receive a rosette ribbon and $10.


4-H Beef Poster Contest

The 4-H Beef Poster Contest is open to all 4th-12th grade 4-H’ers. Deadline for submission is March 25. Your poster must be on 22 x 28-inch white poster board only. Do not attach anything to the poster that is more than ½ inch thick. All entries must be properly tagged with a label. See your 4-H leader or Mrs. Powell to get a label. Important: Do not use commercial brand names or products on the poster; do not portray negative images of other food products such as pork, chicken, turkey, etc.; and do not use jingles, slogans, signs, or pictures that are trademark or copyright protected.

Division I – 4th, 5th, & 6th grades; Division II – 7th & 8th grades; Division III – 9th – 12th grades

First place winners will receive a rosette ribbon and $10. All entries will receive participation ribbons which will be awarded at 4-H club meetings.


4-H Golden Clover Award

Applications for the 4-H Golden Clover Award for Junior 4-H members will be due on April 1. A club member may win the award only one time.

  • Must be 14 years of age or under by January 1 of the club year application is made.
  • Must have at least 2 years of 4-H club work, including award year.
  • Must score at least 250 points on the application and scorecard.

4-H Emerald Achievement Award

The purpose of this award is to encourage project growth and to recognize a broad program of 4-H club members who have shown outstanding leadership ability in their club and parish. A club member may win the award only one time.

  • Must be 15 years of age by January 1 of the year application is made.
  • Must have 3 years of 4-H club work, including award year.
  • Must have completed 1 year of active Junior Leadership work excluding award year.
  • Must score at least 360 points on the application and scorecard.

Application due: April 1


East Carroll Parish 4-H Scholarship

4-H Summer Camp

Let’s get ready for 4-H Summer Camp!

  • Who: 4th-6th graders (Ages 9-12)
  • Cost: $95
  • When: May 23-26
  • Deadline to pay: May 1

4-H University

4-H members who were 13 years of age before January 1 are eligible to attend 4-H University. 4-H’ers can experience an exciting week on the LSU campus in Baton Rouge. This event will give students the opportunity to compete in contests, explore the LSU campus, and visit academic departments. 4-H U will be held June 21-24. The total cost is $95. A deposit of $50 is due by May 1.
