The East Carroll Parish Office of LSU and Southern University AgCenter held an Overall Advisory Leadership Council meeting on Tuesday, December 6, 2022, at 12 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Lake Providence, Louisiana.
Thirteen were in attendance, including the following AgCenter employees: Parish Chair/Extension Agent Lekeisha Lucas-Powell (4-H Youth Development Program); Area Agent Carolyn Robinson (Regional FCS/Nutrition Education Supervisor); Nutrition Educator Assistant Theresa Sammons (FCS – Nutrition); and Administrative Coordinator Sherry McGaha.
Mrs. Powell started the meeting by thanking everyone for attending. She stated that we are mandated to hold these meetings to get input from advisory committee members because you all know the critical issues in the community.
Mrs. Powell introduced herself and Mrs. Robinson. Mrs. Robinson thanked everyone for coming and then introduced Ms. Sammons. Ms. Sammons stated she really enjoys her job and said she primarily works in nutrition, but she does help Mrs. Robinson with whatever she may need. Mrs. Powell mentioned we also have R.L. Frazier who works in Agriculture and Natural Resources, Jocinda Jackson-Jones who works in Healthy Communities, and Sherry McGaha who is our administrative coordinator.
Mrs. Powell reviewed the critical issues from 2021 and reported on the status of action plans. At this point, she indicated that everyone would go into a breakout session within their area of interest to discuss issues.
The main topics discussed by each group were:
*Amended*
Mrs. Robinson stated if anyone knows of anything that is needed, please let her or Ms. Sammons know. If you have a group you want them to visit, let them know.
Mrs. Powell again thanked everyone for coming and the meeting was adjourned at 1 p.m.
