State Fair of Louisiana

The State Fair of Louisiana will be held October 28-November 14. Good luck to all exhibitors!


2021 Outdoor Olympics Overnight Camp

This overnight camp will be held November 12-13. The program will focus on topics including healthy living, fitness, youth mental health, and nutrition. Participating youth will form teams and compete in an Olympic-themed assortment of fun and active lessons and recreational activities.

Registration/eligibility: this program will be open state-wide to all current 7th-8th grade 4-H members. The fee will be $60 to attend and will be capped at 30 participants.

Registration will open October 1 and will close November 1. Please note that all Health Forms and Program Fees are due on November 1. Please all ample mailing time.


4-H Cookery Contest

The East Carroll Parish Cookery Contest will be held Monday, November 8 with registration from 8 a.m. - 9 a.m. and judging at 9:30 a.m. All 4-H members may enter any or all categories. Only one dish per category, please. Only one serving per contest entry is required. All entries must arrive on ice in a hard insulated ice chest-type carrier. Entries must be dropped off at the 4-H office between 8 and 9 a.m.

Winners will be announced by the end of the school day. First place winners will compete in the Regional Cookery in Winnsboro, Louisiana. See your 4-H leader or Mrs. Powell for complete details.


4-H Comfort Closet

Comfort Closet

The goal of the General Trass Senior High 4-H Club Comfort Closet Toiletry Drive is to offer hygiene products to students in need and to promote a culture of giving in our community and among students. Donated items may be given to Mrs. Biaster George at GTSH or dropped off at the 4-H office.


Ag Photography Contest

Grab your camera and get to shootin'! Deadline is November 10.

Rules and regulations:

  • All photos must relate to agriculture.
  • Photos must be taken by individual listed on entry label (get a label from your leader).
  • Entry label must include name, parish, grade, and category.
  • Photos entered must have been taken during 2021 and in Louisiana.
  • All entries must be 8"x10" (color or black and white), no other sizes will be accepted.
  • Each photo must include a one-line title.
  • You are limited to enter only one photo in each of the categories listed.
  • Entries cannot be duplicated.
  • Ink jet prints acceptable.

Categories:

  1. Farm Animals
  2. Horticulture (flowers & gardens), Plants, or Crops
  3. Any Other Agriculture (like farm machinery, barns, silos, hen house, etc.)

Shooting Sports Camp

The Shooting Sports Camp will be held December 10-12 in Pollock at Grant Walker Educational Facility. The camp is open to 4-H youth ages 9-13 years old. Participants will choose one of the following: Archery, Shotgun, .22 Rifle, or Air Rifle/Air Pistol/BB (Combined). Parents and coaches are welcome to attend but it is not mandatory. The cost will be $100 per youth/per parent/per coach which will cover registration, lodging, meals, and T-shirt. All youth will be required to bring their own bow/firearm and arrows/ammo. Registration deadline is Thursday, November 11.


2022 Livestock Show T-shirt Design Contest

Help design the 2022 official State Livestock Show T-shirt sold at district and state shows.

All 4-H members are eligible to enter. Only one entry per person and only one person per entry!

Get out your art set and use your skills to design the back of the official Livestock Show T-shirt. (If you have an idea for the T-shirt color, include that as well with your submission.) Colored designs should only include purple, green, gold, and white.

The winner of the design contest will have their artwork printed on the shirt, receive a free long or short sleeve State Livestock Show T-shirt, $25 cash, and recognition.

Submit your drawing in color to your parish 4-H agent by 11 a.m. on November 19, 2021.


2022 State 4-H Fashion Camp

January 21-23, 2022

Fashion Camp Theme: "4-H Lights, Camera, Fashion"

The Fashion Board chose this theme to reflect their personal excitement about fashion and the attitude that the campers will adopt as they travel through the experiences at camp. In addition to basic sewing fundamentals, a few of the educational activities for campers include: a sewing caddy, tote bag, a reading pillow, a community service project plus more. You will return home with completed projects and ideas to host your own fashion workshop.

Deadline for registration is Wednesday, December 1 by 4:30 p.m.

Costs:

  • Arriving Friday night - $80 (includes Friday lodging and breakfast)
  • Arriving Saturday morning - $65
  • Volunteer Leaders - $80 (leaders attending with parish campers)
