Fashion Camp Service Project

During the 2020 Louisiana 4-H Fashion Camp, 4-H’ers made walker/wheelchair caddies as a service project. General Trass Senior High 4-H’ers KarVan Powell, Jr., Kayla Williams, Randraneshia Powell and La’Gregreuna Fields distributed the caddies to residents at Carroll Nursing Home in Oak Grove. #SERVICE #4HFASHIONCAMP

Strawberry Sale

Louisiana Strawberries - $22/flat

Sales will help defray costs of 4-H’ers attending 4-H Summer Camp and 4-H University this summer. Orders and payment are due to the 4-H Office by Monday, March 9. Strawberries will be delivered to the 4-H Office and must be picked up as follows: Thursday, March 19 between 2 p.m and 5 p.m. Make checks payable to East Carroll 4-H. Thanks for supporting the 4-H program!

4-H Beef Poster Contest

The 4-H Beef Poster Contest is open to all 4th-12th grade 4-H’ers. Deadline for submission is March 27. Only one entry per category! Your poster must be on 22 inches by 28 inches white poster board only. Do not attach anything to the poster that is more than ½ inch thick. All entries must be properly tagged with a label. See your 4-H leader or Mrs. Powell to get a label. Important: Do not use commercial brand names or products on the poster; do not portray negative images of other food products such as pork, chicken, turkey, etc.; and, do not use jingles, slogans, signs or pictures that are trademark or copyright protected.

Division 1 – 4th, 5th & 6th grades; Division 2 – 7th & 8th grades; Division 3 – 9th-12th grades. First place winners will receive a rosette ribbon and $10. All entries will receive participation ribbons which will be awarded at 4-H club meetings.

4-H Summer Camp

Let’s get ready for 4-H Summer Camp!

Who: 4th-6th graders (Ages 9-12)

When: May 25-29

Deadline to pay: April 1

4-H Emerald Achievement Award

A club member may win this award only one time. The purpose of this award is to encourage project growth and to recognize a broad program of 4-H club members who have shown outstanding leadership ability in their club and parish.

• Must be 15 years of age by January 1 of the year application is made.
• Must have three years of 4-H club work, including award year.
• Must have completed one year of active Junior Leadership work excluding award year.
• Must score at least 360 points on the application and scorecard.
• Application due April 3.

4-H Golden Clover Award

The 4-H Golden Clover Award is for Junior 4-H members. A club member may win this award only one time.

• Must be 14 years of age or younger by January 1 of the club year application is made.
• Must have at least 2 years of 4-H club work, including award year.
• Must score at least 250 points on the application and scorecard.
• Application due April 3.

Speech Contest and Science Fair

The speech contest is a public speaking competition. The speech contest and the science fair are open to all East Carroll 4-H’ers in grades 4-12.

When: Thursday, April 16 at 4 p.m. (check-in begins at 3:30)

Where: East Carroll Parish Library

Who: Division 1 – 4th-6th Grades; Division 2 – 7th-8th Grades; Division 3 – 9th-12th Grades

Dairy Billboard Contest

The 4-H Dairy Billboard Contest is open to all 4-H members 4th-12th grades. Deadline for submission is April 17. Only one entry per category, please. Your billboard must be on 22 inches by 28 inches poster board. It must promote milk and milk products – tell about healthy eating with dairy. Do not attach anything to the poster that is more than ½ inch thick. All entries must be properly tagged with a label. See your 4-H leader or Mrs. Powell to get a label. Important: Do not use commercial brands of products on the poster and do not use jingles, slogans, signs or pictures that are trademark or copyright protected.

Poster Art Contest

Rules:

• Posters may be made by any 4-H’er or by a club or by a team of club members.
• Posters may be horizontal only.
• Posters must be 14 by 22 inches.
• Name, address, parish and age of the 4-H member(s) should be clearly written on the back of each poster.
• 4-H is the topic for the poster.
• Well known cartoon figures cannot be used because they are copyrighted – such as Marvel superheroes, Disney characters, Ninja Pokemon characters, etc.
• Three dimensional objects or materials which extend 1/8 inch or more above the surface of the poster may not be used.
• Deadline: April 17
• The poster design must be original in design and layout.

4-H University

4-H members who were 13 years of age before January 1 are eligible to attend 4-H University. 4-H’ers can experience an exciting week on the LSU campus in Baton Rouge. This event will give students the opportunity to compete in contests, explore the LSU campus and visit academic departments. 4-H U will be held June 21-24. A deposit of $50 is due by May 1.
