4-H'ers had the opportunity to attend an Outdoor Adventures Day Camp at Lake Bruin State Park where they hiked, biked, kayaked, cooked outdoors and so much more.

The East Carroll LSU AgCenter presented a fun Summer Workshop. Horticulture Specialist Donna Lee taught youth the proper way to plant seeds and even provided them with their own sunflower seeds to plant.
The group at the Summer Workshop also had the opportunity to learn about the life cycle of a butterfly. Thank you Alisha Clark for inviting us to present an educational program at First Baptist Church!
4-H Summer Camp was held at Camp Grant Walker in Pollock, Louisiana. Special thanks to adult chaperone Ty'Jay'Juan Wilson for volunteering during his summer break.

East Carroll 4-H'ers had the opportunity to travel to Baton Rouge to attend 4-H Day at the Capitol.

LOST (Louisiana Outdoor Science & Technology) Camp - Tracks for this year included videography, wetlands, outdoor adventures, SET and more. Campers also had free time for volleyball, archery, arts and crafts, swimming, canoeing/kayaking and dances. Campers: Jay'Arianna Mills, Cadence Grey, Omari Moore, My'Liyah Powell, Terry Douglas and Kennedy Lucas
Disability Awareness is our state and parish service learning focus for the 2019-2020 year. Opportunities will be offered for you to participate in our state wide focus. Let's get busy make a difference in our community and state.

The 2019 4-H Volunteer Leader Forum will be held Friday, September 13 from 8:45 a.m.—2 p.m. at Delta Community College in Winnsboro. Lunch will be provided. Register through Mrs. Powell or go to the Event Brite registration link. The deadline to register is September 6.

7th & 8th Grade Northeast Regional Camp: The Great Outdoors
Camp Dates: September 26-28, 2019
Location: Honey Brake Lodge

Join us for three days of adventure at Honey Brake Lodge. Enjoy activities such as: shooting sports, fishing, kayaking and many more outdoor adventures! Camp fees include two nights at Honey Brake Lodge, all meals/snacks upon arrival, a souvenir T-shirt and transportation.
A 4-H Share-The-Fun Talent Contest will be held at the Louisiana State Fair Saturday, October 26 at 11 a.m. in the Livestock Sale Arena. Visit the State Fair of Louisiana 4-H Talent Contest website.
General Rules:
Junior Division under 14 years of age as of Dec. 31 or current year: Class 1—Dance; Class 2—Vocal; Class 3—Instrumental; Class 4—Other
Senior Division 14 years of age and older as of Dec. 31 of current year: Class 5—Dance; Class 6—Vocal; Class 7—Instrumental; Class 8—Other
1st Place—$20; 2nd Place—$15; 3rd Place—$10
Rosettes will be awarded to the top three placing in each class. Ribbons will be awarded to all participants.
What to do:
1. Select the perfect pumpkin for your design.
2. Paint, carve or decorate the pumpkin at home.
3. Fill out the entry tag (get one from your leader), cut it out and attach it to your pumpkin with tape or string.
4. Bring your pumpkin to the 4-H Office by 1 p.m. on Tuesday, October 22. NONE will be accepted after 1:00.
All entries will receive achievement certificates and ribbons. First, Second and Third Place winners will receive cash awards.
What's a good theme for 4-H Summer Camp and LOST Camp?
Send us your most creative ideas for a slogan -- in seven words or less. Illustrations must accompany the phrase and will be part of the contest. The contest is open to all 4-H Club members. The winning slogan will be one that is brief and "catchy," capturing the spirit of 4-H Camp Grant Walker. The slogan will be on all publicity for camp and the camp T-shirt, and the winner will receive a monetary award.
Think fast - the deadline is Thursday, October 31, 2019!

Winners will be selected by a committee of Agents and Camp Staff. The winner will be notified after selection in order for an official artist release so the winning entry can be used on summer camp promotional materials and T-shirts.
Deadline for receipt of 4-H Summer Camp and LOST Camp entries is Thursday, October 31, 2019. Individuals may submit multiple entries and send together. Please make sure to indicate which entries are for 4-H Summer Camp and LOST Camp.
