Senior Send Off Workshop

Attention all graduating high school seniors! 4-H will host a Senior Send Off workshop January 11th from 9:30-10:30 am at the Laplace Library, donuts will be provided! We will work on 4-H scholarships, honor cord applications, and interview preparation

Honor Chords Application

For the seniors who are unable to attend the Senior Send Off Workshop and wish to wear 4-H honor chords, find the application on Honor Cord web page.

Deadline to apply is January 31, 2020.

Junior Leadership Conference

Junior Leadership Conference (JLC) will be held March 13-15 at Camp Grant Walker! “JLC Under the Big Top” is the theme for this weekend camp. Any 4-H members 14 years and older may attend. Limited spots are available, let Ms. Ashley know if you would like a registration form.

Deadline to register is February 3, 2020.

Jr. Leader Meeting

Our January Jr. Leader meeting will be held at the Laplace Library on January 27, 2020 from 6-7 pm. Food will be provided.

4-H Spirit Shirts

Jr. Leaders are selling spirit shirts! Purchase one today to show your St. John 4-H pride! Family and friends of 4-H are welcomed to purchase shirts as well. Shirts are $15.00 each. *Check or Money Order ONLY* All checks can be made to St. John The Baptist 4-H Foundation.

The shirts will be black with green and white font.

Livestock News

The Southeast District Livestock show will be January 30- February 1 at the Covington Fairgrounds in Covington, LA. Please contact the office or Ms. Ashley for additional information and the schedule of events. All livestock exhibitors must participate in the District show in order to attend the State livestock show which will be February 8-16 at Lamar Dixon Expo Center in Gonzales, LA.

Citizenship Washington Focus: Presidential Inauguration

4-H members currently in 8th-11th grade that are interested in attending the 2021 presidential inauguration must apply online at: The trip will take place January 17-21, 2021. The cost of the trip is $2,000. If you would like more information, please ask Ms. Ashley.

Deadline to apply online is January 17, 2020.

Cooperative Enterprise Teen Leadership Conference

Cooperative Enterprise Teen Leadership Conference is open to any 4-H member in the 8th-12th grade. This conference will be held March 26th-28th at Grant Walker Educational Center. Students will compete in teams to build and manage their own cooperative business. An educational award trip and cash prizes will be presented to top business leaders. If you are interested in sharpening your marketing, money and management skills let Ms. Ashley know you would like a registration form.

Deadline to register is February 7, 2020.

4-H Night with the Pelicans!

Purchase your ticket today if you would like to attend the 4-H night with the Pelicans game. St. John 4-H will provide a bus at no additional cost. Anyone who will be riding the bus will need to be a registered 4-H member or registered 4-H volunteer (Ms. Ashley has extra forms). Bus seats are limited, please let the 4-H office or Ms. Ashley know ASAP if you have a paid game ticket and will be riding the bus! Younger students must be accompanied by an adult at the game if they are riding the bus. The game is Friday, February Ticket pricing ranges from $31-$170. St. John 4-H needs adult volunteers to help with project clubs such as Sewing Club, Science, Engineering, and Technology (SET) Club, Shooting Sports Club, and Robotics Club.

Save the Dates for Summer 2020!

4-H Summer Camp

St. John is attending week 2 summer camp! This camp is for 4th-6th graders who want to enjoy 4 nights / 5 days of educational adventures, sports, swimming, canoeing, dancing, performing arts, science, making new friends, and much more!

Camp is May 25- May 29 at Camp Grant Walker!

4-H University

4-H University is for any 4-H members who are in 8th-12th grade (Must be 13 years old before Jan. 1st). 4-H U hosts over 40 events to compete in or attend Clover College which is a non-competitive event of instruction.

4-H U is June 23- June 26 at LSU Campus in Baton Rouge!
