4-H Holiday Wreaths

St. John 4-H will participate in a 4-H holiday wreath collection. Each 4-H member AND / OR each club can create a holiday wreath for a door at the Veterans home! Make sure you add a touch of 4-H inspiration. Points and ribbons will be awarded for the best wreaths from each school and what school club had the best wreath overall!

Wreaths are due to the 4-H office / or to be picked up by the 4-H agent by December 12th!

Any appropriate material can be used, be creative!


Cookie Workshop & Gingerbread Contest

Join us Saturday December 21st at the Laplace library from 2-3:30 for a fun cookie decorating workshop! We will eat holiday desserts, decorate cookies, and compete in a gingerbread house contest! If you would like to compete in the gingerbread house contest, please bring completed houses to be judged. Any edible material can be used to complete your house! Ribbons will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place houses. Please let Ms. Ashley know by December 18th if you will be attending so we can have enough cookies for everyone!


Jr. Leaders are selling 4-H spirit shirts!

Purchase one today to show your St. John 4-H pride! Family and friends of 4-H are welcomed to purchase shirts as well!

4-H Night with the Pelicans!

Purchase your tickets today if you would like to attend. St. John 4-H will provide a bus at no additional cost. Anyone who will be riding the bus will need to be a registered 4-H member or registered 4-H volunteer (Ms. Ashley has extra forms). Bus seats are limited, please let Ms. Ashley know ASAP if you have a paid ticket and will be riding the bus! More details about this event will be in the January and February newsletter.


Livestock News

The Southeast District Livestock show will be Jan. 30- Feb. 1 at the Covington Fairgrounds in Covington, LA. Please contact the office or Ms. Ashley for additional information and the schedule of events. All livestock exhibitors must participate in the District show in order to attend to the State show.


Jr. Leaders

Our December Jr. Leader meeting will be held at the Laplace Library from 6:00 - 7:30 pm, pizza will be provided.


Graduating Seniors

We will have a “Senior Send Off” workshop on Jan. 11th from 9-11 am at the Laplace Library, donuts will be provided. We will work on 4-H scholarships, honor cord applications, and interview preparation!

4-H Summer Camp!

St. John is attending week 2 summer camp! It is for 4th – 6th graders who want to enjoy 4 nights / 5 days of educational adventures, sports, swimming, canoeing, dancing, performing arts, making new friends, and much more!

Camp is May 25- May 29 at Camp Grant Walker!


4-H University!

4-H University is for any 4-H members who are 8th-12th graders (must be 13 years old before Jan. 1st). 4-H U hosts over 40 events to compete in or attend Clover College which is a noncompetitive event of instruction.

4-H U is June 23- June 26 at LSU Campus in Baton Rouge!


Project Clubs will begin soon!

Please let your 4-H agent know if you are interested in joining one or more of the following! We need adult volunteers to help with these clubs, contact the office today if you know someone who can help!

  • Sewing Club
  • Science, Engineering, and Technology (SET) Club
  • Shooting Sports Club
  • Fishing Club
  • Robotics Club

Parents and volunteers are needed for these clubs! If you know an adult that could help us please contact the 4-H office at 985-497-3261 or email Ashley Terry.
